Why would a guy be really sweet to you one-on-one but then ignore you around other people and talk more to them than you?

He doesn't want his circle to see him in that manner for whatever reason. He wants to portray or look a certain way in public with his behaviors. Privately he wants to be sweet as many men do but he doesn't have the self confidence or is too self centered to behave this way in public or to even realize he is changing his behavior
