That's a weird thing for him to say, for sure. A few possibilities:

- He could still be interested in you on some level, so he's paying attention to little things like your last seen. But is keeping you at arm's length by saying work is his priority now.

- Maybe he's trying to seem like he doesn't care as much by claiming he's focused on work. But then checks up on your last seen because he does still care a little bit.

- It's possible he's just trying to keep you on the back burner in case things don't work out with other people he's talking to. So he occasionally throws out a comment like that to keep you engaged.

- Or he could just be messing with your head a bit, knowing you'll wonder about his intentions. Some guys play mind games like that when they're losing interest.

It's hard to say for sure. But I wouldn't read too much into it or give him too much power over your feelings. If he's not making time for you, then don't sit around waiting for him. Focus on people who genuinely want to spend time with you!

Oh man, that really sucks! I hate when guys are ambiguous like that. It seems pretty clear now that he's not actually interested in a relationship with you, he just wants the physical stuff without any commitment.

The fact that he brought up his ex justifies his working all the time is a major red flag. He's still hung up on her and isn't fully over that relationship. That's not fair for him to be messing around with your feelings when his head's not in the right place.
