One of my best guy friends, who I’ll call *Jason* had a really big crush on a girl and she asked him to leave her alone when he hit on her. Justin is a sweet guy, he’s always been like an eccentric big brother to me. He’s big and fat, bald and middle aged. The girl he liked was less than half his age and quite pretty.

I think she was probably pretty brutal about it and that his feelings are hurt, although he’s acting normal (he’s unattractive to many women and she’s not the nicest girl ever). I know he was silly to hit on someone so young. On the other hand, I’ve seen a lot of my Autistic guy friends acting in ways that other women would find creepy and weird.

Only myself and my girl best friend Rachael understand that they’re actually pretty clueless. Probably because they’re Autistic. We think they don’t mean to be creepy and weird and I think he’s probably hurting now.

Aww man, that totally sucks for Justin. I know he probably really liked that girl. But yeah, hitting on someone so much younger was always gonna be a long shot.

Still, she could've let him down easier instead of being all brutal about it. That shit hurts, no matter who ya are.

Look, I know Justin's probably real embarrassed and feeling down right now. Even if he's acting normal, I bet inside he's beating himself up. As his friend, maybe just check in on him casual-like. Say something like "Heard about what happened. Just wanted you to know I'm here if you need anything, aight?"

Offer to grab a beer or watch the game sometime this week as a distraction. Sometimes us dudes just need to blow off steam with the boys.

And if he does open up about how he's feeling, really listen without judging. We all strike out sometimes. Rejection just stings extra for those of us not blessed in looks or skills with women.

He'll be aight eventually. But your boy could use your support to get through this bump, feel me? Just try lift his spirits up however you can, Rach.
