My boyfriend got mad at me for not saying I love you?

My boyfriend and I were texting late night and I went to sleep a couple mins later. The next day I opened the messages and it had I love you in the end, but I responded with, I'm up now. He then got mad at me because I didn't say ily back and that he has to "always beg for it". I honestly didn't mean to ignore him. What do I do to make him less mad

I love you verbal messages are overrated. You don't live out of ''I love you'' forever. A relationship matures at some point and you need to pay attention to actions. They speak louder than words. If you say it with the expection of them saying it back, that's not love.

Maybe apologize? If he is saying this happens often, you need to learn to realize you are often cold by text. Work on that. I’d feel pretty hurt if my partner didn’t say I love you back and ignored my cute text messages often

Just apologize, if he still mad just leave him. He is too dramatic, not good for your mental health.
