Guys, Why do guys not like the idea of their friends flirting with their sisters?

Little bit difficult for me to answer because I don't have a sister.

However, I can imagine that would I have had a sister I would have been somewhat protective over her. There's of course the thing that I know most people I have hung out with well enough and most would not have been 100% suitable for the sister-I-have-never-had, but some could have been.

But then there's also, they are my friends. I want to hang out with them, and not that a couple wander off and pick my sister over me 😉

Other than that... I really wouldn't know why there'd be any issues. I would not stand a relationship between a friend of mine and the sister in the way; if anything I'd be happy that she picked a bloke I know and trust.

Girls and guys in my experience get overprotective and fear they’ll lose their friends forever along with their sister. They see their friends and sister as comfort, to lose both senses of comfort makes them unstable / unwilling to accept their romantic fling.

OR they feel their friend dating their sister is gross and it should remain a friendship circle not a love triangle. Major drama!

2. We know the stupid shits our friends have done (and often have been part of it). But, the standards we have for our sisters (or any other female we care about in our family) are often higher than the standards we have for ourselves and therefore we want our female relatives to be with someone better than our clown friends.

3. Loyalty issues. Guys are loyal to their friends. Guys are loyal to their sisters/females relatives they care about. So, if the sister and friend break up, that puts US in an awkward position.

4. Related to 3, when someone hurts our sister, we expect our friends to come with us and jump the bastard responsible. That gets complicated if the bastard in question is one of our own.

Because in the bro code this is a rule you don’t break. Men know how other men can be. We have friends who can be sleazy, I know I did in the Marine Corps. While they’re good dudes that would die for each other, the way a number of them treated women. No bueno. Not to mention if he really loves his sister he probably has high standards for her. Not only that if he’s a good friend, should things not work out in a relationship w his sister, chances are he will lose his friend. Friends are hard to find these days. Don’t mess w your brother’s friendships.

Some men have friends around who may use women for sex or other stuff they would not want around their sister - but which they might not care as much for whether the friend does it with women they don't know.

Maybe some are just worried if things don't work out it will be awkward and they prefer keeping social spheres different.
