Why do people say when a guy bullies you it’s cause he likes you or has a crush on you?

and by bullying I mean he criticizes your appearance repeatedly, makes jokes at your expense criticizing your physical appearance including in front of others.

If a guy like that actually has a crush, he's very immature and wouldn't be good to have a relationship with. He's toxic also.

Agreed. There are many guys who are abusive thoguh whether mentally emotionally and or physically. So I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the norm.
