Do you know the difference between a true gentleman and a simp?

A true gentleman:Courteous to all, close to only a few and treats everyone with respect but leaves when he feels disrespected

Simp: Only respects if he gains something (usually sexual favours) from her and tolerates disrespect from the ones who look beautiful to him. This is the “nice guy” . He may even get super toxic if he doesn’t feel physically attracted to that girl. So basically his fake personality is only for those he simps for and only they can have a good relationship with him.

I am trying to understand people’s behaviour and this looks very appropriate. I am glad to know great examples of both so I know what I want to avoid when dating.

A gentleman has dignity. He may be easy going, kind, courteous, generous, and have a good sense of humor, but he doesn't grovel or seek attention. He doesn't need affirmation from others because he has inner confidence.
He treats others with respect. He does things, not for reward, but because they are the right thing to do.
He's chivalrous because it's the right way to treat a real lady. He respects women's intellect, dignity and worth. If a woman is unappreciative or tries to take advantage of him, he merely walks away.

A simp is needy. He does things for personal gain.
He may grovel before a woman and love bomb her out of desperation. Or he might try to buy her affection with things that go beyond mere thoughtfulness. He tries to con them into granting access to sex and he gets angry if his efforts fail. Or he'll dump them once he gets what he wants.
He doesn't respect women. In fact, he thinks they are gullible.
He is only interested in women's whose beauty will boost his status and make others envious.
To him, women are mere objects.

And then there are simps who have no dignity at all. He will let a woman trample him, make demands, take his money, cuckold him, and treat him like a worm.

one way to tell is how they handle rejection. If they take it with dignity or try their best to take it well, he's genuine where as a simp typically gets pissed off because he feels like he's owed. Simps also won't stand up for themselves even when the woman is in the wrong and have a yes queen mentality for any woman who gives them a sliver of attention. One of the biggest self-reports though is defending woman in situations where they're clearly wrong.

For example, the summarized version is a woman made a comment saying men should shut up so I said she should shut up and withing half an hour some random guy jumped into the post defending her calling me a sexist asshole for telling her to shut up. I called him a simp he got pissed and said he wasn't and then I pointed out he was defending a woman that came out the gate being rude and all I did was clap back at her with the same thing she said yet somehow, he decided I was the villain?

She didn't even comment again on the post replying to what I said so he didn't even get any credit for defending her XD Further I pointed out he was being a simp and thus calling him one was fair and suddenly he shut up.

Yes, this seems accurate. Another way to distinguish them is that the weak, cowardly man will use you for his own ends, usually sexual, but it could also be money, favors, prestige, beauty, etc. A weak woman will be similar, Though the most common for her is not sexual favors, but emotional intimacy.

The good man will desire all of those things just as we all do, but we'll never use another person in order to achieve them.
