The system of chivalry was best used during a time when women were not allowed to be independent, as such they has no choice but to rely on the men they married or the men they would marry and a code of chivalry was a code of honor that men could use as both status symbols to compete against one another with, and a guideline on how to be liked by women. These days, women and men are on equal territory legally and financially and more or less socially, but the influence from systems like these still exist and it’s something to take into account when you’re trying to make a good first impression on those first few dates. Once a connection is made, I doubt it matters that much.
Chivalry is a medieval system that revolved around knighthood and how they treated women. I don't know where the idea came from being chivalrous means funding a woman's desires? I think you're saying that's what it has become for women; they don't consider you to have qualities worthy of a knight unless you pick up the tab?
Chivalrous meant you were generous, kind, and respectful, yet brave in battle and gallant at all times. I surmise the "generous" part in today's world means you pay for expenses of the courtship and are glad to do so.
I'd rather know what objectifying a woman means. An object is one of the most generic words in existence. All physical things are objects. I know SOME women use the word as a way to imply that men are pigs that just want a woman for her body, but... if you remove the just, that is true... for both men and women... for both humans and animals. We are attracted to appearance. That is a part of having sight. So again, what is actually being meant when someone says a woman is objectified?
How does chivalry have anything to do with money? It refers to being honorable and protective toward women.
And to pay for the date. Have his car and open the door for her. Open the door at the eating establishment or whatever public place they may go to. Im more of an outdoorsman myself. An extra kayak costs more than dinner but a hike is pretty much free.
No man should have to protect a woman unless they are in to the more shady atmosphere. I dont like drinking or drugging or parties away from familiarity.
Its better to protect in accomplishments. A nice house in a nice area protects her the most.
That's not what Chivalry means.
