How would men calm down women when they are upset?

The reason why I'm asking this question is because I wanted to know how would men calm down women when they get upset and for example: men sees women that they care about upset and scared and the men takes care of women that they care about with gifts and calms her down and please no inappropriate opinions and please appropriate opinions

It depends on why she's upset. If she's upset at someone else, I just agree with her and join in the misery.

If she's mad at me, I'll yess her to death for a one off but if it's reoccurring I'll make sure I understand how she understands the situation and feels about it because I know I won't get a straight answer so I need as many clues as possible. Also asking her day is a cheat code there's a 40% chance she wasn't even mad at you.

If she's REALLY mad at me, I go straight to Yankee candle. Like immediately. Which is right next to bath and body works whoever decided that is a genius. And I'll always have a backup plan to go out somewhere in case she tries to accuse me of buying my way out- isn't that ironic now that I think about it?

Whether that is the right approach or not is another topic.

This is where even commonly patronizing things like "Calm down" begins. Because calmness will help figuring out and understanding how to solve something. Men are, stereiotypically, very solution oriented.

It is a little awkward to explain that men tell women to calm down because we want to help. But most of the time, what do you know. The road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions. And hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, intentionally or not.

A more experienced man would probably listen. Or depending on relation, more affirmative action.

I usually am a pretty understanding person when it comes to what makes people upset. The last woman I dated I totally got it with her issues with her job and I sympathized with her letter for letter how difficult her job was at the time. Unfortunately none of this worked and she seemed to be mad at me. The dating relationship didn't work out. There was a certain frustration there with never getting a "thank you for understanding" or whatever.

If you're talking about History, I believe men usually "calmed down" women using corporal punishment and rape. Works with kids too. And I'm far from saying that History is over.
