Im not mad at it because i fine with giving hugs and high fives as long as they're not being creepy, but i would never initiate changing a greeting from a wave ๐ hi to an open arm hug walk up hug. I've just noticed that it happens a lot when I see the same guys over and over again. None of them know my private life or opinions, some not even my name.
I don't think they give a thought to it. Im not reprimanding them, just wondering about the behavior? Maybe it's my body language, too? I want to be aware, though because a few times some men saw it as an invitation and I don't know the difference.

It probably just comes down to whether he thinks he can get away with it.
I used to work with this guy that would hit on/flirt with anything in a skirt. He also caught flack from our boss about the women who weren't receptive to it. What i always found funny though was the overwhelming majority who were though. And how when he wasn't there, would come over and talk to me. Like it was somehow my job to bill fill in for his flirtatiousness while he was gone.
Your question reminds me of him because he would slowly ratchet up the affection with women and if she didn't stop him he'd keep going. I've always been fascinated by the actions of men and women. The women's almost pathological need for male attention, yet the sharp denial of ot as well as the men with the almost pathological need to collect bodies.
Where I work, everyone hugs everyone else. It is what friendly people do. In some cultures it is normal to greet someone with a kiss. The fact that some people live under the delusion that it has to mean something shows a basic lack of intelligence.
A guy would try that exactly one time before he was knocked down to the floor.
Some men are rather forward even with a woman they barely know.
They become more comfortable.
