Please bare in mind that I've never smoked, I've asked a few people how they quit smoking and these are a few things that worked for them.

1. Donating the money to charity
My mum smoked for 10 years (between 19 and 29) before she finally decided to quit. She worked out how much it cost her each months of cigarettes (around USD$66 at the time) and committed to donating it all to charity. Then whenever she had cravings she would remind herself that she wouldn't have enough money to donate to charity the next month so could never bring herself to buy cigarettes. This way your money will go to a good course and will (hopefully) give you a boost knowing you're helping out the less fortunate.
If you want to do something a bit more personal or something where you can see someone progress you could try sponsoring a child.
2. Nicotine patches, gum or e-cigarettes
Patches, gum and e-cigarettes are fairly cheap ways to help reduce cravings and get you out of the habit of reaching to your bag or pocket for cigarettes or tobacco.
3. Get others involved
Having someone to support you helps you keep on track (especially if they're trying to quit too!). It makes things 100x easier if you have someone to keep you in check. If your friends won't support you try to find a new group who will.
4. Educate yourself
Finding out exactly what smoking does to your body could help you too. Find out, in detail, what smoking does to your body so whenever you have cravings you can remind yourself exactly what smoking a cigarette does to your body which will (hopefully) help you push through them.
5. List all the negatives
This one follows on from educating yourself. Whether quitting is to do with our health or setting a good example for your kids, note it all down and refer back to the list when you have cravings.
It talks a lot of strength to quit, but if you have the right support an enough will power you can do it! I hope this take helps you ๐
