HAHAHAHA YO G@G WANT SOME SALT WIT DEM FRIES CUZ YOU JUST GOT SERVED!!!
In all seriousness, you just exposed the hypocrisy of our generation. Constantly uplifting these fat chicks cause its the PC thing to do, but in reality nobody actually wants a fat chick. We want a fit chick. How ironic that after the anorexic body fad from the 80s-90s went away, we immediately began to sway towards the other extreme which is obesity.
Ashley Graham has always annoyed me, because she clearly has potential to be immensely beautiful. But she deliberately keeps herself a good 20 lbs overweight, just to be stubborn. Imagine if she actually got into fit shape, she'd knock Kate Upton out of the park.
She may be able to pull her weight off because she has a really pretty face, but most girls out there the same weight as her can't do that. She's setting a bad and unhealthy standard.
@Asker You bash pepole but do it annonoumously because you are ashamed of who you are. For your information there is no one person that everyone is going to think is good looking.
I've said this in another post but beauty is almost like sports and much like sports we have different leagues, ranks and classes... its no different when it comes to beauty
there's a group of women that see her (Ashley Graham) as the gold standard within her league. As a matter of fact she looks so good that she can equally compete with those other girls you showed...
That is why she deserves to be on the front cover, she's the epitome of plus size sexy beautiful and she's being marketed exactly that way.
@AdamThomas i do see what you are saying. For the most part its true
But Ashley is unique... her personality, beautiful face along with how she carries herself is extremely attractive. If she ever decided to trim down big time, she just gets better and better because she has that model foundation.
I just think she looks average. I'm not saying she looks terrible, I just don't think she's as attractive as the other women, nor is she as fit. I don't understand why she wouldn't just slim down rather than stay overweight.
@AdamThomas probably sticking with the idea that if you can't be the best heavyweight be the best middle weight... but being the best at something is important to some
Her weight makes her the best plus size model (makkes her more marketable and therefore moe money moe money) but if she trims down now she's competeting against bodies like this...
I agree with @HandsomeRaj on this one and his point 4. You just bewitched my heart by your amazing way of research... 😽😽awesome... Girl you are right she is fat.. But the point is world's isn't a place to chase right things and preaching those lessons are good until in school... When is business all that matters is, people's demand, and your capacity to provide them with things that put you on the top in the market. 1) IN case of sports magazine, that women Ashley is shown with make-up and after photoshop in pics... The one on the cover page is not her it's a photoshoped version of her.. 2) She is one chasing publicity and fame... Otherwise she would have never agreed to photoshoot. While the other athletes are chasing better records and trying to enjoy the way of living they chose.. They hardly agree to photoshoot... 3) market experiment : Some things are done as market experiment, and posting her on cover page can be one of those..
I don't think anyone's been afraid to say she's overweight. It's clear that she's overweight and no one has been afraid to say that, from what I've seen. However, her being overweight does not mean that she deserves the cover any less or that she can't be seen as beautiful, just like any other girl. I think that's the point - her weight doesn't necessarily mean she's unattractive and we certainly can't say that she's not inspirational to people. Whilst I think she shouldn't be on Sports Illustrated if she's not a sportsperson, I don't think that her weight is what we should focus on.
i completely agree with you. the fact that it's only the extremes who get to model is very disconcerting. what about average women? why are the options a woman who is a stick with a BMI close to malnutrition vs. a woman who is considered "curvy" with a BMI bordering on obesity? there are a lot of beautiful women out there in the healthy range, what about them? i also agree with the idea of putting athletes on sports illustrated. i've never thought much about sports illustrated except that they put hot women on the cover lol but that would make way more sense to put female athletes on the cover. :)
You know why people are afraid to say it? It's not because they are afraid of actually saying it, is because every time they do (like I did a few days ago) they get called name, and all the hate in the world comes back at them for only wanting skinnies, and that she's perfect and gorgeous and beautiful etc, and all the white knights come along to defend people like that... so it's better to just think it, and keep it to ourselves... it's hurting nobody, and for those who like it: good for you, for those who don't: good for you too.
I wasn't afraid to say it! Did you see my MyTake which was about the same topic? I agree with you 100%. Fat is not attractive and I don't care what anyone says; she is F-A-T fat! I don't care if that's the "average" size of most American women. It simply just means that a lot of American women then are similarly also fat. Hence the obesity epidemic.
all these in denial plus size models are just one hamburger away from a heart attack cough cough tess holliday.
One moment they post a status about obesity acceptance and then 10 mins later they post a video of them crying about how they hate being fat. get a grip
I am 5 foot 7 and 150, i fit roughly a size 8 or 10 but I am ACTUALLY curvy unlike what these walruses claim. I am not all fat. I have a higher number on the scale than most girls but with actual quality goods to back it up js
Since you're using BMI scales, perhaps you should realize how many professional athletes show up as "Overweight" on a BMI scale. Tom Brady is on of them for an example. They don't measure muscle mass, bone structure, or shoulder size.
Ashley Graham has a feminine shape. It's a proven biological fact that women tend to carry more fat than men, and have CURVES (Big hips, large bust, and smaller waist). This is due to the fact (HERE IS THE SHOCKER) women have babies.
You also have no evidence the athletes you posted are healthy either. Barry Bonds and the other "roid" heads would live on a diet of fast food, on top of performance enhancing drugs. Many athletes don't live a healthy lifestyle, regardless of how active they are.
However, I've noticed the people here on GAG can't pass fifth grade Biology. I take that back, that's an insult to the fifth graders.
Just admit it: You wrote this "MyTake" because you're jealous of her, and you're insecure.
@EnglishArtsteacher I agree on the whole BMI thing. You could have two people with the same height and weight. One could sit in front of the TV for 6 hours a day while eating junk, working at a job sitting on their butt for 8 hours etc, while the other could be someone who woks a job with a high activity level and workouts a lot doing weights ( light weight high reps and heavy weights low reps), sprints, distance running, different lengths for swimming, hill work etc.
the chick is definitely fat. i don't get why people get so uppity, especially fat people, get defensive when i (or anyone) says they are, or she is, fat. just accept it. or if they're that defensive about it, put down the cake and go to the gym. with that said, i also don't get why people are being so fucking butthurt about the fat chick on si. the only crime is that they picked 3 of the ugliest contestants. yes, it's relative, but the chick isn't hurting you. all of y'all pussies who are bitching an moaning are just as bad as the fat people who get pissy when i use the term fat to describe someone. people need to get over themselves.

I think Ashley Graham is overweight but not by a huge amount. She's tall and naturally hour glass. The weight charts put the top weight for a woman this tall to be 168 so she would have to lose 30 pounds to fall within a healthier range. www.rush.edu/.../what-is-a-healthy-weight I don't think with her bone structure the bottom weight would look attractive. I was super skinny naturally when I was young. I think a bit of curve is nice.
A little more Butter on the Buns perhaps than usual her, dear, but she Knows... Believe me, How it Goes as she Shows. It's Mind over Matter as to What is the 'Matter,' and in 'Knowing that she needs to drop the Pudgy Pounds with Some views' Hounds, it's her Admirers like yourself who need to Encourage her to do so, Giving her strength to Loose the flab. I am guessing with a little pep talk that even you have tried to do, She will be up and running with that fabulous bod once more. Thank you for Sharing and Caring... Sometimes Some fall off the wagon for a Reason.
Another take of a woman bashing another woman. God forbid a man wrote this take. The feminazis would be on fire and it'll turn into another gender war. Look, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Same way you think she's overweight, some people will disagree and say she's a good weight. Most of the women in my family are naturally thick and they're athletes. My aunt played basketball in college, my mother is a Zumba instructor on weekends and I occasionally go to the gym (when I have time) and eat decent. I'm a size 8. I refuse to let anybody tell me I'm overweight. My mom and aunt are 10s and they are some of the most athletic people. They may not be as large as Ashley, but for people who are vegetarians, I dare someone call them overweight because they're dead wrong! Those photos of the "healthy" women that you showed don't represent all "healthy" women. Try Serena Williams... have a good day.
I want to just point out that the majority of men agreed and the majority of women didn't. Why? Because women just want an excuse to make fat "beautiful" and men just don't want to hurt women's feelings and are afraid not to be politically correct. As much as women would be much happier being fat and also feeling attractive, men just don't find it that way, and it's hard for you to swallow apparently.
The difference is... she likely worked out for the photoshoot and was much leaner and traded muscle for fat to prepare for SI. The second photo you provided off of google of Ashely could have been her at a stage where she was overweight and had a higher percentage of body fat. Her body looks quite different in that photo then those in SI.
A girl can be plus size and still be very attractive, if her percentage body fat is in check. If she lets herself go and becomes overweight ie., has a higher percent body fat then it can be unattractive.
Some girls are just structurally bigger... height wise, a more muscular frame, etc., they can look just as attractive as a smaller framed girl.
Your photos of these other girls above... sure any one of them could grace the cover of SI... but it should be open to girls of any frame size as long as they are fit in their own body class and not just allow a size three or less to grace their pages.
No one claims that she is not overweight, thatβs why they call her a plus size model. Plus size models were created because the represent the average American women who wasnβt presviously represented in media. How do you know she is not healthy? She works out and eat healthy, she just not afraid to have a burger every once in a while. Just because someone is skinny doesnβt mean that they are healthy or that they workout. If your argument was only athletes should be feature on sports magizines and not models - big or small, then I would agree with your point.
Ya Ashley Graham is fat, and unattractive. SI is just rebranding to attract subscribers. That's how you know the whole widespread fatness problem is a pervasive issue. Just be healthy people, what's the problem
The problem is, you don't really know who is healthy on those covers or not. Some people who are fit or skinny really don't take care of themselves well and sometimes do unhealthy things to achieve that look.
Definitely agree that they should promote being healthy more, the problem is people think they know how healthy people are just by appearances alone and that's just not the truth in some cases.
first off, you literally chose the worst photo you could find of her. Secondly, I agree that she shouldn't be on a magazine supporting sports when she does no sports herself and furthermore, I understand that she is overweight and for some unknown reason you seem to be having a mental breakdown about the fact that a woman you don't know and will never meet is packing too much weight. What I don't agree with is the fact that your putting down women who are overweight: some work full time and can't get to the gym or they have more responsibilities than looking good in the mirror, others have problems that make it hard for them to loose weight, also some people just don't give a shit if some nosey bitch thinks they're too fat.
Well, I personally think she looks good. Note gonna lie. I also think that her popularity is a direct response to decades of underweight, malnourished "supermodels" being shoved down our throats, but that's a whole 'nother issue.
That said, I agree that health should always be the number one priority. Period. So yeah: would this girl be in better health if she lost some weight? Yeah, she almost certainly would, and therefore she should.

Any normal man will disagree.

That Ashley Graham is very fat, I think its really nasty that people try to push this ideal of gluttony and early death as being beautiful or natural.
Allison Stokke is quite the ideal, she is a serious athlete and beautiful... she deserves to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
