How My Laziness Made Me Thinner

I think the perception that fat people are lazy is an inaccurate over-generalization. For me, the lazier I got, the thinner I became. Here are my speculations about how my own laziness made me thinner.

1. Difficulty In Finding A Vacant Parking Spot Close To The Store

It's kind of difficult for me to find a vacant parking lot close to the store. That's because all the other cars are parked so close to the store. I decided a long time ago that I would just park the car farther away from the store, simply because I was sick and tired of searching for a vacant parking spot.

2. Slowness of the Elevator

When I'm in a hurry, I don't take the elevator. The elevator is the WORST place to be in while you're in a hurry, because it does not serve only you. It serves everybody who goes into the elevator. I can run up 5 flights of stairs in the same amount of time a person rides in a crowded elevator.

3. Stupid, Low-Quality, Broken Gardening Tools

The gas-powered lawn mower and lawn trimmer are getting old and run-down. So, I am forced to go back to the basics to do my lawn. I have to shovel the snow on the sidewalk with a snow shovel, pull weeds manually, mow the grass with a heavy push lawn mower that can't go by itself anymore, and use a broom and shovel to pick up leaves and cut grass. I am too lazy to go to the store and buy new tools, let alone afford the cost. So, as a result of my laziness, I have to spend more of my own energy reserves on my body.

4. Window-Shopping

I became more of a window shopper, when I got lazier and just wanted to scan the menu and imagine the savory food in my head. Being a window shopper made me enjoy the food in my head without actually going in and buying it, and it also made me walk great distances around the shopping center regularly, and before I realized it, I would find myself at the other end of the shopping center (and where my car was located).

5. Long Lines at the Restaurant

I remember going to Wendy's and standing in the long line during lunch hour. It takes stamina and patience to wait that long. I can easily and quickly get something from the supermarket and check out. In addition, I can bring food from home, which saves money, time, and energy. Who needs to actually go to a restaurant and stand in line when the lunch box is close by?

6. Location of Processed Foods in Supermarkets

Finding the processed foods in the supermarkets meant I had to walk more steps than finding the produce section. In all the supermarkets I visited, the produce section would be the first thing I saw. The bright colors were pretty obvious and attractive, and the unit prices for a specific quantity of food were not as high as prepared and processed foods. Coincidentally, unprocessed, bulk foods tend to be low-calorie and more nutritious than processed foods.
