Many Doctors may tell you about how Valium is an "Unharmful" relaxant. I wasn't warned about the harmful effects a tiny 5mg pill of Diazepam could have on me.
I was prescribed valium at the hospital when I was rushed in because I couldn't get up, let alone walk from my chronic back pain. They gave me valium and ibuprofen to take home, and only take them when I really needed it. I've only ever taken 4 pills since last Friday, and its been 2 days since I took the 4th valium pill. I only ever took it when my back was acting up.
But it did me more harm then good. The reason why I stopped taking it was because I could literally feel myself getting addicted to it, so I got spooked and stopped. The pills gave me this "high and happy feeling." I was high minutes after I took it and the ibuprofen.
After it wore off though, I didn't feel too good, I felt like I lost brain cells, I felt fidgety and lost. I felt like I was trapped in my own body. I haven't taken a valium pill since Monday and I feel like shit.
I'm begging you, if you are about to be prescribed any type of Benzodiazepine, do not take it. Trust me. It will make your life a living hell. The fact that doctors prescribe this type of drug makes me even more angry. I went to my primary doctor the other day and I told her the feelings I had been having.
She laughed at me, and looked at me like I was crazy, she said "it's supposed to relax you." I was furious because all it did was cause me more harm than good.
It hurts that people who are supposed to help you when you feel any sort of pain, prescribe you poisonous things that make you worse than you were before. I just wish I was warned about the effects of Valium before they even gave it to me. Please don't take this pill. You're better off without it.

It's a sedative. You know why it's so addicting? Every single day, your brain is like an interstate, constantly sending signals between synapses and driving you nuts, pain in your chest, heart pounding, head shrinking and it just won't stop, because you got used to it and it's your brain's way of functioning day-to-day, almost like a survival mechanism.
Valium. Once it's in there, it disrupts it all. It's like a computer running at top speed, with 10 open tabs, three games and music playing all at once, hyperventilating so loud the neighbors can hear it, all of a sudden going *PEEOOOWWWW* off... Quiet, cool, calm...
Like that sound when you hear an industrial warehouse loose power. All of that tension is gone. Your brain is no longer processing all that crucial information (which is not really that crucial anyway) and it almost forgets about it entirely. It jogs your memory but then it's like "Meh, it's all right. No big deal, I realize now it wasn't so bad"
And after it wears off...

ALL SYSTEMS ARE BACK ONLINE AND FUNCTIONING.
I'm sorry you went through that, but I'm glad you've stopped taking them. Prescription pills are so bad for you!
One of my family members is addicted to Xanax. He tried to get off it, but failed because going cold turkey on Xanax is 10x worse than heroin. Due to the extreme amount of physical stress while detoxing X, it can actually be life threatening!
Taking multivitamins and drinking water has done wonders for my health, as well as eating a lot of greens.
Be proud of yourself, you thought for yourself and probably avoided a serious drug addiction!!
Spread the word about pharmaceuticals. They're poison!!
thank you so much! the weird thing is I've only taken 4 pills since the day i was prescribed the diazepam and i was beginning to have withdrawal symptoms but, being around people and doing stuff that distracts me. really helped me out a lot.
my back still hurts but, i sure as heck am never going to take those pills anymore. and yes! I've had people tell me i was making it all up and they looked at me like i was crazy. im glad finally someone knows the dangers these pills can cause.
Sorry you had to suffer through this. Thanks for passing on your experience, though, so others can avoid it.
