Time to Quit Drinking Part Two

SuperManiac

This is a follow-up to my previous take with the "SuperTroll" account I deactivated:
Time to Quit Drinking!

Relapse

I kinda relapsed yesterday, finding drinks in the fridge my wife got for herself and getting drunk again drinking those. Whoops! :-D On the plus side I avoided going out and kept it to a single digit number of drinks, although it's still a failure since I'm aiming for zero.

SuperTroll Account

I got some people asking me why I deactivated my old "SuperTroll" account. I made that account primarily for the sake of writing silly drunk posts on this site. It became somewhat obsolete with the goal to quit drinking, and I started to get lots of comments about the default birthday I picked (marking me as over 100-years old) and the "troll" part of the alias. So I made this one as a more serious one with an accurate age.

Why I Wanna Quit!

I didn't make this clear enough in my previous take but the primary reason I want to quit is to lean down and get back in decent shape! I'm getting a bit soft around the mid-section.

Some people were concerned if it was affecting my relationships or something like this, and actually, my wife drinks more often than I do! I often have to carry her to bed. :-D The nice thing with her is that she gets pretty drunk just after a few drinks, so she doesn't go overboard in liquid calories.

I tend to not get so drunk until I've had around 20-30 drinks which can range from around 2000-6000 calories, and averaging twice a week. Even though I eat mostly like a health nut, it can be difficult to lean down and stay lean with, say, 4000-12,000 extra calories per week. Plus it's kind of a waste of money.

I Hate Carrying Extra Body Fat

I'm kind of a weirdo but I really don't like the feeling of carrying any concentrated amounts of fat anywhere in my body. It feels like it weighs and slows me down. Similarly, I don't like to wear heavy clothing even in the winter time (something that often gets me teased by friends given that I wear short-sleeve clothing when it's snowing) as I'd rather feel cold than feel heavier on my feet with restricted mobility. I like to feel light and nimble.

Training Routine

I'm easing my way into training now but my favorite way to do it initially is just climbing stairs every other day. I have a flight of stairs within walking distance from my home at the train station that is exactly five flights of stairs.

I go up and down them with two-step lunges, careful to stay upright and with good posture, for a total of 20 sets (100 flights of stairs) without rest. If I have energy left over, then I use it to do sprint intervals on my way home.

That's usually a gentle way to get back into the groove of things. When I start being in decent enough conditioning to do the sprint intervals on top, I start working my way to the recreational part every other day to do calisthenics motions. Then the gym for heavy lifts.

Whenever I find myself getting out of shape though, the stair climbing every other day for a couple of weeks serves as a gentle way to get myself used to the feeling of training again. I tend to also lean down pretty quickly just doing that.

Conclusion

Anyway, thanks for the support so far everybody and apologies for the relapse! I'll double my efforts now after the slip. I ended up putting up a whiteboard on the fridge with the writing, "NO ALCOHOL!" to remind me not to grab drinks out of the fridge.
