What the rabbis and apostles have in common

Rabbi Manis Friedman says being selfish does not work because in todays academic world we are more confident and self affirming than ever and our depression rates have skyrocketed, what brings real happiness is focusing on ways to make a contribution to the world or to the lives of others.

I usually meditate by picturing myself giving love which I believe has improved my health and today I tried to focus on visualizing myself receiving love instead of giving love, and immediately my heart began to ache as if I had acid reflex or heart burn or congestive heart failure etc…

Once I switched over to meditating on giving love and not on receiving love, my heart burn immediately disappears and I find my nicer friends have an easier time maintaining a health metabolism because I believe empathy and bodily health are correlated and support each other; When you’re sick, you’re more likely to be selfish, due to not valuing the pain of others.
