Visiting a dermatologist can be expensive and its not something everyone can aford to do. Besides some of the medications they perscribe can dry out your skin and some extreme medications like ACCUTANE can cause serious side effects in the long run. Not to mention there are more natural and less expensive ways to treat the problem. Sure some acne is genetic but other can be mainly be lifestyle related as diet and products we put on our face can influence the health of our skin . This article will discuss lifestyle changes and other small things we can do in order to achieve healthier skin, along with noting short cuts companies take to make cheeper products that may affect our skin .
Dietary changes

Eating greasy and sugary foods can contribute a lot to your skin health. So reduce the amount of fast food you consume along with sugary drinks such as pop and some juices. Drink more water instead as it helps hydrate your skin and flushes out some toxins. Ditch refined grains as it is highly processed and not great for you anyways. Eat more Green vegetables they are packed with Vitamin A and nutrients that fight acne, wrinkles, sun damage and inflammation. Green tea is also good for acne and inflamation in general.
Sulfates in Shampoo and Parabens in Skin Products

Most Shampoo's have a compound named sulfate that is also used in dishwasher soap and laundry soaps. It is just a cheap substance that causes the shampoo to get really foamy , but it is also harsh and depleats the skin from it's natural oils . This makes your skin try to replentish the natural oils quickly and causes acne . My skin got a lot better when I swiched to Sulfate free shampoo. A lot other skin products I have switched to are also Paraben free. Parabens are simply chemicals that are used as preservatives in a lot of cosmetic products and face washes. Some people have slight alergic reactions to parabens and as a result have some skin problems like acne , eczema and redness . But most importantly they can cause some forms of cancer , but that's for another lecture.
