I am a 19 year old female who is 4'11. I AM OBESE. I weight 160 pounds. Just by looking at me you would think that I am not active. YOU, my dear, would be wrong. I am a dancer who exercises anywhere from 12-20 hours per week on top of having a full time job and I eat healthy. I have always been shorter and fuller. I have tried dieting and just about everything else and I have never managed to get below a size 10. I'm happy and I could run a marathon today if I wanted to. But that will not stop people like you from looking at me and calling me names or telling me that I need to lose weight.
SO, contrary to what you may believe, not all fat people have poor dieting and exercise habits. "Fatness" does not automatically that a person is a complusive overeater or exercise-averse.
NO, I am NOT glorigying obesity. I am glorifying me being me because I know my truth and I know my reality. THAT, my dear, is all.
There is absolutely no bed for you to be rude to this woman. You had no right to insult her.
Obesity can be caused by many things, not just poor diet and exercise. Genetics and the mother's weight while pregnant happen to play a large role in a person's weight.
It is possible to have an excellent diet and workout and still be obese. Medication, health problems, and metabolism can affect a person's ability to lose weight.
Then she would should have mentioned is she had a condition or is taking medication or something. Obese is different from thick or curvy. If you dance and eat healthy, then you probably don't look like the last picture OP posted. She isn't even really obese, but she's getting there.
@AverlinAngelRose I don't appreciate you insulting me, hun. I did, however, click your link. I don't look like either one. Yes, I do eat healthy. I do all types of dance. Anywhere from ballroom to hip hop and even jazz and back.
If you are healthy and excersizing that much... than your weight is fine. I'm talking about those who don't excersize are the ones who should loose weight.
People don't realize that just having a large butt and boobs don't make it attractive. When guys like a nice butt, it's actually a butt that is firm which is achieved through working out.
Overall, It's due to the sensitivity of people and the constant pampering of unhealthy people that is the problem. Fat shaming doesn't help, but we've gotten to the point where suggesting someone eat healthy is "fat shaming." The same girls that'll mislabel fat shaming will then skinny shame other girls calling them anorexic like you said and fit shame girls in shape by trying to criticize them as much as possible.
We need to get rid of any shaming, but we also need to be honest with ourselves. If a guy doesn't like an overweight girl, I notice that they'll automatically try to label the guy as "superficial" and claim that he doesn't like a "real woman" and all this other nonsense. Yet these overweight women will chase fit guys which makes them just as "superficial."
everyone is not the same., you do not speak for all men. My fiance likes big jiggly booties. not firm muscular butts. Im actually skinny with a regular sized butt and no boobs , there was this one time when i put on a few lbs and my fiance was continuosly grabbing my butt, kissing, shaking it, spanking it. Whenever he sees a big jiggly butt he always stares. Its just what he likes. Also some guys actually really do prefer big women and other guy prefer women with child-like bodies.
I think there is a difference between curvy and fat. Curvy would be defined by an hour glass figure, big breasts tiny waist big hips. Fat is kinda hard to classify because people distribute weight differently, someone may be 150lbs and all of it is in their breasts and butt, where another may weigh the same and it may distribute in their stomach, that's where people define you as "fat" . It's sad but true. Personally I don't care what someone is , I'm not gonna judge them based on what they look like. These weight trends are too confusing to me.

I am a super proud 5'7'' size 14 woman, who is beyond active, and healthy. While my doctor says that I could lose 20 pounds, the bloodwork doesn't lie. Low BP, low cholesterol, no arthritis, or damage to my joints from the weight. A great deal of my good health has to do with my positive attitude about my size. I have NEVER felt sexier, more confident, and stylish than I do now. And it shows. My entire life I was ridiculed by the "skinny" girls. Mean doesn't cover it. Never asked on dates, because everyone wanted the skinny Barbie doll. While I would never shame a girl because she's skinny, I have to admit it's about damn time us curvy girls are getting some positive attention. We have been shamed for far too long. Bravo for society realizing that normal, and healthy isn't always airbrushed and photoshopped.
Sis you're being pretty ignorant in this article. All of us humans have our own preferences and the health of those who find we particularly attractive does not tamper with how attractive we find those people to be.
I also must remind you that there is a two lane road to your philosophy as some of us men do find those women you labeled as healthy "unattractive" as we aren't attracted to women that are more athletic than we are.
Also there are a lot of skinny people that are unhealthy too and people are still attracted to them either way. Again health doesn't play a major role in our preferences. Not to be rude or anything but judging by the way you expressed yourself in this article you pretty much came out as a person who envy those women who you find "unhealthy" because they might something that you dont
You said it yourself stop bashing at eachothers bodies, but then u also say "because of recent movements in the media, girls everywhere are getting the idea that it's okay to be large and have rolls of fat." I think that was funny. No, this just didn't began to happen cuz of media, just so happens that some men actually think WE ARE beautiful. I say this because i am a what they call a thick girl n sum of my friends that are slim hate on me on the DL when guys like me, because they think they are thick and am fat lol. N yes obesity is a health risk, going to gym should be something we should all be doing no matter our size.
I'd you want body shaming to end, don't try to shame women who don't work out.
What someone does with their body is none of your business, and it's not okay to say "women who look like this are great because they work out" and"women who look like this aren't great because they don't do this" and even "women who look like this aren't great despite working out" then turn around and say"support body love". Body love and positivity is about loving your body no matter what, not loving your body under certain conditions.
I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want. But I can tell you you deserve applaud for common sense, and the vast majority of men wish more women were like you.
(This is Tinkerbell) I absolutely hate the fact that people automatically think if you're skinny you have an eating disorder. I'm really skinny and I eat a lot and its really frustrating that it can't just be seen as the fact that Im skinny, they have to suspect that I'm doing something unhealthy to be skinny
The media always goes to extremes- wether its with being underweight or obesity. It is really starting to get on my nerves. Why can't the media get it through their uneducated, plastic heads that humans are beautiful and desirable NATURALLY, like NORMAL people. Not intentional obesity or anorexia.
I agree 100% because anyone who has way to much body fat% isn't good. It's causing a lot of stress on your body. It's also interesting that people can be over weight but it being due to muscle mass. ATM Google is being annoying and I can't find this website or pictures showing what I wanted to point out. Basically it's possible for someone who has a higher fat% and less muscle and someone with more muscle and less body fat%. Both still weighing the same amount. So surprisingly you can be over weight and it being caused by just muscle and having the healthy amount of body fat%. Just most people end up with having to much body fat. So technically telling people to lose weight is kind of a lie since losing weight u could do that if u cut an arm off or a leg. So the correct term is actually for people to say they want to lose more body fat.

First of alll everybody has different body shapes so just because they aren't tall and slender with abs and flowing blonde hair doesn't mean they are unhealthy! Second women in general are suppoosed to have extra fat on their bodies because thats what helps reproduce a child just because you have a misconception put in your head that everybody who is " healthy" needs to look a certain way which isn't true. Anyone even skinny people can get diseaases because of an unhealthy diet. Why do u even care so much anyways? Its the curvier girls time to shine !! by the way just because u are thicker doesn't mean ur unhealthy Bitch!
actually if you carry extra weight in your midsection, regardless of if you're thin or fat, it's a type of obesity and extremely unhealthy. so having a thick stomach is just bad in general. women do have extra "essential" fat than men do but it's still such a small amount that it's not enough to really say that women should be fat.
No it isn't... it's called genetics. People in my family are extremely healthy. After kids we all have a pouch that doesn't leave. Stop making rude excuses for what you don't know.
@ObviouslyBored, if you are eating processed food and such you are not healthy; therefore causes of cancer and other diseases. Genetically, changing of diet will make you lose that kangaroo pouch. I think nowadays people don't know their bodies; don't even know how to listen to them.
Grilled chicken fish veggies occasional french fries is not an unhealthy diet. Walk a mile in my post 2 baby body. Work out in it and feed it and then tell me what I should be doing. You petite birth free females are totally clueless.. you really think you know something. Being skinny, or fit has limitations unless you are willing to go triple extreme. I'm sorry, but less than 1600 calories a day is not going to happen.
Body shaming needs to stop. It seems to always be one or the other when there are so many types. Also, we don't know everyones stories. I've been overweight, and I am currently thin. It doesn't seem to matter what weight I am, people still have to make comments and be judgmental.
My doctor said that every body has its happy weight, but I can personally verify that exercising is not only good for the mind but the body, too. Otherwise, I think that as long as a female looks, feels, and acts healthy and they're not exposing themselves for any possible healthy risks, they're beautiful! Personally, I eat the vitamins I need but have a slower metabolism so my body naturally gets slightly thicker, but I also love exercising and making my body as healthy as I can help it. It all balances out. :)
Oh, and as a side note, I'm 154 lb, muscular, 5 foot 7, and my record for wall sits are over 10 minutes long and I play soccer but I still have a slight tummy. (I can pinch almost 2 inches)
A body's "happy weight" is its homeostasis. :) Your body's nominal state. It fights to maintain this nominal state despite external factors (definition of homeostasis).
I'm obese, and it is not because I'm lazy and don't feel like getting healthy. I have a thyroid condition as well as a hormonal imbalance that causes lack of weight loss. Ever since I had open heart when I was 12, I've had issues losing weight.
Just stop, why judge anyone? If someone's big leave them be. If they're skinny leave them be. The media should represent all women and they slowly are, women all have beautiful aspects as do men, why judge each other and bring more hatred into an already corrupt world.
Right... skinny girls are ALWAYS violently shoved down my throat in all aspects of media and advertising. Why can't a few pieces of media tell me it's okay not to be a size 2.
If you immerse yourself more plus size media has come out, torrid and Whitney Thorne and her show but there is more thinness in mainstream media. And Yes, @LittleSally people do like doing that, I'm not sure if that was intended here but I see it daily and I see it in the media which is unjust.
The person who created this, is bashing girls and then stating that we should stop bashing each other, The plus sized women in those photos are beautiful and YES THEY ARE CURVY, their waist goes inward before it goes out again, they have large bosoms and thick thighs to support a large booty, Just because they're not plastic or because their above a size 8 doesn't make them any less beautiful, why should they be judged so negatively by someone that doesn't even know them!
I completely agree... You know, a guy on this site said this to me, and I haven't even thought about life like this before (because i thought I couldn't) : Who gives a cra* about what others think? (If they agree/disagree with your opinions or your look.) Don't sweat ANYTHING! Do you. - something like that... And it changed me a little - every day. =)
In my home-town women like those pictured are called over weight, and here obese is WAY bigger than that. If a person is thin they're thin if they're thick they're thick. All that matters is that they feel healthy and take care of themselves. Personally I was 15 lbs over and felt miserable until I got into proper diet and exercise. For me to be too thin I was weak, so moderation is the key. Enjoyed reading this take. Personally found it quite motivating.

Or maybe we should understand that we all are different, we all have different bodies and we all should just accept that we want different things and make our own choices.
We should all feel that we are good enough and worth of something no matter how our body looks. If we bash body types, some people will start to shame their body. And nobody should feel that way. Not to mention it will stop some people from getting healthy.
I understand what you tried with this take. Healthy is good and that is what we should promote. But it doesn't mean you aren't good if your body isn't perfect. And too much muscles isn't good either. We all have ur opinions on what is beautiful, and what isn't. And not all agree with your idea of beauty.
we aren't glorifying obesity i would say. But because curvy and heavier girls have been put down for so so many years and thinner girls have been seen like goddesses we are more starting to realize that no size is better then the other. By saying it's ok to be curvy you put the curvy girls up to fit and thinner girls level. It not ok calling someone anorexic just as it's not ok calling someone fat as an insult. If you just eat right and exercise on a daily bases and what ever shape you have after that is your body.
Lol... actually, there are sizes that are better than the other.
Being fit=better sex, more attractive, healthier, able to physically do more things in life, such as walk flights of stairs without stopping to gasp for breath.
Being "thick" aka fat=much more likely to be afflicted by diabetes, cardiac disease, stroke, cancer, more likely to have reproductive problems, joint problems less attractive, and lucky if able to have sex at all.
"Thick" people are more prone so cardiac arrest, diabetes, and other health problems. If you have a naural body shape that is not as thin as other girls, that is fine. Thinner girls have been glorified because they are HEALTHY. We aren't going to look up to someone who is 300 pounds!
Honestly, the pictures of the girls you showed aren't obese. Just because you're not stick thin doesn't mean you're "obese" and being a little overweight isn't a HUGE health risk. Yes if you are 300 pounds then it's really unhealthy and dangerous, but the girls you are showing aren't even that big. People don't glorify obesity, they glorify the women who are proud of their bodies, no matter what size they are. You say to stop bashing each others bodies but that's basically what you're doing.
Actually you'd be surprised what obese really means as far as bmi
I'm technically obese and I'm 5'7 190 lbs. I've got a little gut but I'm skinnier than those girls in the pictures. That first girl is Gourgeous though obese or not.
Obese is simple a bmi of 30 or over 30. You don't have to be severely fat to be obese
I knew a girl who was skinny and the doctors told her she was obese. So even if a girl is technically obese doesn't mean her weight is going to kill her. Since apparently even girls who aren't big at all are considered obese. @longblackveil
Yep, can't disagree with you there. That's because bmi is actually really inaccurate. It doesn't account for muscle mass at all. It's basically just, how tall are you? How much do you weight? Ok your obese!
You can't always base your BMI on whether or not you're obese or not. BMI is a helpful indicator in most cases, but there are a lot where muscular individuals or athletes cannot use BMI as an indicator because it goes off of weight and height alone. Does not account for heavy muscle, so if you're muscular, you're going to have some "good" weight and BMI will account for it being too much regardless of what it is. The definition of "obese" is a BMI of 30 or higher. These examples this person gave are far from obese. Maybe a bit on the "overweight" side, but not obese. This person is just as guilty as the media, tbh.

It depends on what kind of dancing you are doing, and you must not be eating healthy if you are obese. There is no excuse for being obese, which is what you say you are. You are probably naturally thick or curvy, and you scale for obese is way off you dumbass.

@AverlinAngelRose of course, but between 120 lbs and 300 lbs there are 180 lbs and technically an infinite amount of numbers.
Omg everyone was just hating on my opinion but now I see the up likes!😋
Bodybuilders are obese according to bmi as well as quite a few powerlifters and those in strongman competitions.
