In my home-town women like those pictured are called over weight, and here obese is WAY bigger than that. If a person is thin they're thin if they're thick they're thick.
All that matters is that they feel healthy and take care of themselves. Personally I was 15 lbs over and felt miserable until I got into proper diet and exercise. For me to be too thin I was weak, so moderation is the key. Enjoyed reading this take. Personally found it quite motivating.
Or maybe we should understand that we all are different, we all have different bodies and we all should just accept that we want different things and make our own choices.
We should all feel that we are good enough and worth of something no matter how our body looks. If we bash body types, some people will start to shame their body. And nobody should feel that way. Not to mention it will stop some people from getting healthy.
I understand what you tried with this take. Healthy is good and that is what we should promote. But it doesn't mean you aren't good if your body isn't perfect. And too much muscles isn't good either. We all have ur opinions on what is beautiful, and what isn't. And not all agree with your idea of beauty.
society now a days should make people not want to be models... there was a time everyone wanted to be one. Now, if you watched a show where people want to be a skinny model they look unhealthy bc they can't eat much at all and it's ridiculous bc you see these spots they mark up where we wouldn't even consider fat at all. they want them to be 100% fat free or something. Now, they want people to get fat. I do think that they should feel beautiful just people shouldn't encourage it. Being a model now a days is just so unhealthy! I'm not fat, i'm not too skinny i wear a size 3. I think they should have nice clothes just like skinny but not encourage being fat. It's so sad.
Maybe it's just me, but I think the woman in the first photo is hot as hell! Like, that's what my dream girl would look like. Just beautiful!
And I don't think women are getting the idea that being big is okay, it's like every single woman I know is unhappy with her looks (no matter what she looks like) because there's judgment, judgment EVERYWHERE. Some of the world's most powerful industries rely on women hating their bodies so it's no surprise they spend so much time obsessing over insignificant flaws, instead of enjoying themselves.
I don't really care how big or small a person is Unless they are straight up shapeless fat. It is called body type. And everyone has one. Telling everyone they should be fit or skinny is complete utter hogwash. This is just another way of saying be small (fit, or skinny) or you are unhealthy and unattractive. Women really areally constantly judging one another.
^ I love this.
typo.
" Women really are constantly judging one another."
I don't think they are saying obesity is ok lol... They just don't women to be ashamed of themselves. You don't shame an anorexic so why shame those that are larger. We as humans should be proud and confident and encourage each other to be our best healthy selves.
I agree. But being over-weight is not being "our healthy selves". That was the point I was trying to make
How do you that those girls aren't healthy? How do you know that those girls are just not in the higher end of their ideal bmi scale. How do you know that the other smaller girls are healthy? Just cause she's doing a push up lol? Judge not dear. I'm 5'7 and was 148 pounds when my brothers gf who decided I was too big compared to her 115 pounds was more fit. I lost 13 pounds and realized I was perfectly fine as I was. Be happy but I think glorifying curvy women is brilliant!
How do I know the other girls are healthy? hmmm... maybe because they're olympic athletes?
I actually believe that the ideal body type today is being fit, not ripped, but fit. But it's true that some women out there have come out with all this that fat women are beautiful. True, some people may consider that beautiful, but that doesn't mean it's healthy.
There's a reason why it's called overweight, because it's OVER the ideal weight, ergo, it's not healthy to be like that, and we should stop saying it's ok. No, it's not ok, just like it's not ok to be underweight.
I agree with you here ;)
I think people who claim that severely over weight women are healthy have never taken a health class. It's physically impossible to have "Fat" and "healthy" in the same sentence.
I don't know about others, But personally I've never seen a morbidly obese olympic athlete. Hmmm.. wonder why haha.
There are very beautiful curvaceous women though. Merolyn Menroe was one
There's a good type of fat, and a bad type of fat. When you start seeing a big amount of it, you know it's not the good type.
I understand there are people with diseases that makes them fat, but those who glorify being fat and unhealthy just so that they can keep going to McDonald's need to take a health class.
And like you said, there are some chubby/fat people that are attractive, but still doesn't mean they're healthy.
They should make Olympics for fat people, that would be very entertaining hahaha
Olympics for overweight people would just... never work.
And I agree that women are simply justifying their weight so they can continue eating more food.
They will work for the viewer. Have you seen wipeout? Tell me it's not funny when a fat person participates xD
Marilyn Monroe..
yeah... being unhealthy because people find it attractive is something that just makes no sense to me - no matter which way you go with it. I mean, if someone wants to be fat because eating is fun or can't help it because of some medical condition, fine. But to do it because some people find it attractive is weird.
PPPRRRREEEEEAAACCCHHH!!! I have been sitting here thinking this and I even said it once on here and got absolutely lit up for it. I think the thing is it seems that the media has been pushing girls who are attractive and work to look as good as the can to the lime light and people who are overweight calling themselves curvy saying "Why aren't there any girls like me up on billboards!" It seems that people who aren't being all the can be are attempting to put down the people who are trying to be all the can be, the people who are skinny going to the gym are being attacked by the people sat on the couch eating popcorn. I agree with everything you said here and believe me I know how much hate your about to get but a lot of people aren't commenting but thinking the exact same thing :)
We're far from "glorifying obesity" in western culture. If anything, it's the other way around. When every cover of Vogue features a "curvy" model, then you can talk, but as long as they're still skeletal 15 year olds, thin is in.
AMEN!
You're making a whole group insecure because you're insecure, that makes sense!

I kind of agree with you. People seem to think that overweight women are fine and obese women are just overweight. The other day I saw a post of some girl claiming to be curvy or chubby but she was plain fat / overweight. I am not fit, I'm just thin so I'm not too healthy either. Nowadays people are trying to justify being fat instead of losing weight.
How are people trying to argue that the woman in red is not obese? Either she is very overweight or she is obese. I wish I could know her height but she does not look very tall and looks extremely fat.
It's not that its a problem to celebrate those with "curves" it's that that definition has been skewed wayy too far to the right. The woman at the top is healthy, attractive and curvaceous.. yumm The women at the bottom... not so much. They try to force both into the same category like having an extra 20-30 for curves is the same as having an extra 60+
I think the woman at the top and bottom are over-weight.
Oh well. We all have different opinions...
*applause*

My ideal body type:

Just cuz someone looks a little chunky doesn't mean they're unhealthy. My dad runs half marathons on the regular and has top notch health yet he still has quite the gut on him...
Don't spread falsehood man. What you consume as food is different from exercising; you could exercise all you want but if you are eating all that processed food and inorganic food the chances of being obese or above your natural weight are significantly high.
extra weight in the midsection is still unhealthy. not sure what you mean by "top notch health" but marathoners die from heart attacks while running so just because someone seems to be able to exercise a lot does not mean they are super healthy
Right... people really think a little extra padding is like the devil or something. This chubby lady next to me ran 7 miles. I'm a US 6 and couldn't run 3...
Haven't any of you anti-skinny, anti-curvy people ever heard of body types BETWEEN the extremes? There are girls with big boobs, nice butts, etc, that AREN'T OBESE. Like, duh.
I personally think we should see a bit of everything in the media, ya know, like we do in real life.
Instead of this constant bullshit of "we shouldn't see this, we should see this instead."
The damn truth!
Like in real life?
I don't really see fat people, unless I want to bash them, usually I don't even notice them.
This makes me sad. I can't be skinny. I exercise make myself throw up and try to fit in and everyone wants to think omg she doesn't do anything. I run in ROTC i am active so Please stop judging on what u think is fat.
I agree with you fully... don't listen to her because having curves comes with less problems than being really skinny if you really think about it... you are stronger and prettier so be proud of what you look like
Thank you.
You are fine the way you are.
I'll tell you something from a psychological view... This post was probably written by an insecure person who is worried about her weight whether she may be small fit or big. ;) trust me it's so obvious.
It just pisses me off iin many ways to think that people judge people based on size one of the sexiest women alive was a size 10 and now if your not a 3 and under your not considered sexy.
I'm sorry, when did I say you had to be skinny? I don't remember saying that in the take.
You did tbh I am the size of the girl in the last picture and in your opinion she is 2 fat.
I have to agree.
No one is bashing "curvy" or overweight people here and we encourage you to love yourself, but glorifying something that can/will cause health cocerns later in life is not what we want.
