Yes and no. I work in a research lab that studies nutrition and the best answer I can give is it's weird. There are fads out there like low carb diets or gluten free and things like that that are total bull that seems legitimate on paper but probably won't do much. There are way to many factors involved with nutrient for me to give you exact advice without knowing you but this is what I say: Stay away from processed foods. Your best bet is always fresh meats fruits and veggies. It's not that everything else will kill you it's just that these things are better for you most of the time. But if you decide you want a donut sometimes you should be fine. Tip number two exercise. You may not become super healthy super fast but it always helps. Your body wasn't built for living the way we do. It was meant to be living out there running from wild animals and chasing other wild animals. Your body is doing what it would naturally do in the wild the only problem is we've removed all the stressors. Putting on fats good when there's a shortage of food in the wilderness not so much when theirs a MacDonald's down the street. Also remember excercising is more than just going to the gym. Go play. Go ride a bike or hike with a friend or go swimming or play tennis or tag. Just do something. Sword fight with paper towels if you want just move. Move your entire body. Jump climb dance just do something. Tip number three love yourself. Depression and stress are linked very strongly to health issues and we often overlook their importance. Accept who you are and love your self take care of yourself and learn to enjoy life no matter what you look like or what you think others may think of you. Lastly, on the calorie thing. yeah..kinda. Just eat slow and stop when your full. Learn to pay attention to your body it knows when you need to stop. Chew slow eat slow and don't ever feel like you need to finish you food. If your full your full so stop. And full means content not bursting at the seems.

Like another person said, yes and no. For one it depends on your body type and your metabolism. You also many not gain weight and appear healthy on the outside but have high blood pressure and cholesterol. I'd say it's safe to say you can eat what you want if you workout regularly.
No, lady, it isn't! If you do, you won't get fatter, since no calories will be left. But, you may get problems with high colesterol levels, not get enough vitamines, etc. That being said, I am not a nutritionist. Thus, it's always a good idea to check one. In my country there's this diet called "dieta dos pontos", which means "points diet". It's the idea of what you asked- but, even though you have a great liberty to choose whatever you want to eat, there are usually some recommendations. If you don't follow them, you may get the problem I was talking about. So- as long as you stay in your calorie range, you have a big liberty to eat what you want, since you won't get fat, but you should always be careful to not lack on vitamines or exaggerate on colesterol, for example. Couldn't find any good article as a source- so, if you're interested in this diet, search for a nutritionist!
I personally don't believe in calorie counting as it fluctuates depending on how active you are in general, how active you are that day and the types of calories you are eating. I would argue that you should eat three healthy meals a day and remain active to stay healthy

I say no, foods have hormomal and nutritional effects on the metabolism.
So u might lose weight but your body will function poorly,
or you are SUPPOSED to lose weight but the effects of your imbalanced diet may lower your base metabolism, or the diet imbalance may not properly fuel your workouts and affect your calorie output through exercise.
