Why do guys love sports so much?

My boyfriend is addicted to sports. He watches basketball, football and baseball religiously. Just when I think his obsession is over, a new season begins and it starts all over again. I have to make plans around all the big games and I barely see his face during March Madness! Why do guys love sports so much?

It's both a biochemical and a cultural thing. Basic survival instincts, plus the effects of higher levels of the male hormone testosterone, make men naturally more competitive than women; which was a boon back when humans had to hunt for food and other resources. Today we can include the pervasive cultural pressure for males to be more interested in competitive physical activities. Women are interested, but I think they also want to see other women doing these things - a concept which remains prohibited by society.

Not just guys like sports! I live for the moment where the last seconds are ticking a way, sweat is dripping down my face, I have the ball, and it's all up to me to make it. It's so awesome. It's competitive and awesome. When you hear the fans screaming your name it's what you live for.

Insecurity.

1. Fear that they will not be recognized as a member of the "man" group.

2. Fear that they will "miss out" on social chatter if they miss a game.

3. Fear that they will fall out of a group of friends that bases their friendship around sports gatherings.

Some manly men will argue that football is "fun".

Why do women like clothes and shopping so much? They/we just do.

Men like competition, and it doesn't matter much whether we're actually competing, or our team is, we just love it. The thrill of winning, the agony of losing, and the strategy involved, is exciting and fun.

Umm because its fun... If your my girlfriend you won't see me for more then 4 hours on a typical day from the month of april to august... Thats how booked I am for baseball... I do that shit till I get blisters and my lungs feel like they are gonna collapse... all to play D1 baseball.

The competitiveness. And team sports its about building the best collection of people in the sport and putting them against others.
