Why do Men love competitions?

For example, this guy travels across the country once in a while to take part in what they say a “Brutal Spartan Race”.

Why not just sit by the beach and tan and chill and drink something?

I find it funny.

My ex was the similar but these days I better get along with chill men.

It is baked into our DNA. I ran marathons and a lot of shorter races.. I always pushed the last half mile and passed as many people as I could, the last 100 yards were more competitive than that. There was no prize at the end but that was not the point.

Some guys have highly competitive energy and get a big kick out of this kind of thing. Guys like that usually do sports and similar stuff. It’s a healthy outlet….


The spartan one is particularly fun/satisfying to those who train and partake (men and women). It’s just an intense sporting event. I think if you watch it and see how happy he is, you’ll get it.

I'm the one, that would love few things more than getting lazy at the sandy beach and going for a swim periodically. Its even more fun with nice and sweet girls. I can do this every day and never get tired of it.

Some people just enjoy the thrill of competing and the fun involved. I do quite a bit of sailboat racing on medium size and larger sailboats and the crew is all volunteers including myself. Typically the crew includes both men and women who are experienced sailors. I've noticed that the women compete just as hard as the men do to make sure as far as we can that the boat wins or at least does well in the race. It's a great way to get to know other people.

Competition have been a historic part of malness, from boyhood to even late manhood. It's seen to form a boys' bond involving players and largely dude fans and has been used to differentiate between males and females, though there are many more distaff athletes today.

Socialisation. I feel it's changed now but in the paat growing up when were expected to be competitive, a sign of their masculinity. They grew up seeing competition as important and healthy in a society that wasn't so segmented. You've got the whole mates theory of men trying to compete with other men regarding love and marital status back then especially. Now competitiveness has rarely to do with gender and more so a type A personality thing.

Male nature. Survival… women don’t have that trait as much as they don’t have a ton of testosterone. But as humans we have a sense of that.
