Why is being crazy associated with being stupid?

I have emotional problems and act "Crazy" on occasion. I am just curious how it makes you automatically stupid or retarded to be crazy. I am puzzled for real.

Everyone is neurotic to some degree and many of the greatest minds were a little more neurotic than the average individual. Stupidity is a completely different ball game. Like people who can't tell the difference between crazy and stupid. I wonder if these guys can even spell the terms without autocorrect lol.
