How to get rid of dandruff? I have long hair n the scalp becomes very itchy if I don't shower for a week. HELP?

I showered today n washed my hair with HEADS N SHOULDERS. I m feeling very light, as if I m about to fly. ha ha thanks all the girls n guys for suggesting the product to me. I like the feeling after shower. ha h a. now on I will try to shower at least twice a week ha ha n wash my hair with HEADS N SHOULDERS. love u all.

My hair can take hours, or even over night to dry sometimes, I still shower daily. Washing your body is nothing to do with your hair, this is why shower caps were invented.

Use a hair dryer, sometimes hair staying wet too long can turn into a breeding ground for bacteria since they love warm damp places, and this can cause flakes or dandruff.
Tea tree oil is also good for dandruff, just put some on the scalp every day for a week then just do it every other day or whenever you need.
Some people can go a week with no hair washing and the hair is fine, the fact yours itches so much shows your hair clearly needs more washing, so maybe try twice a week and blow dry it if you're in a rush, or at least blow dry the roots so they don't just stay damp because roots usually take longest to dry.

hmmm... try shaving off all your hair.. 2 problems solved with 1 action.. and you can shower more often from then on to prevent itchiness.

I'm guessing you don't want to cut your hair shorter and hence I have several suggestions:

1) Head and Shoulders works great
2) Wash your hair regularly
3) Put plain yogurt in your hair... I used to think this was a wives' tail but a friend of mine did it and it worked

ha ha yes u got it right. I m in no mood for a hair cut now. so I wanted a solution that could be helpful. I got head n shoulders today. it's not that I have not used it in the past. I have used it n it's very good for the dandruff. it works for me as well. but I was worried that it contains more percentage of chemicals that can damage the hair. but anyways I will use it. n thanks for the yoghurt. I will try that also.

Shower once a week? Make that everyday and wash you hair on like Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, etc. You don't have to wash it everyday. I can't wash my hair every night because it insanely makes my hair dry

Head & Shoulders works like magic. I have gotten dandruff when I was 14, washed my hair for a week with it - gone and never came back.

shower everyday. not showering is probably making your dandruff worse.
invest in a hair dryer
or cut your hair.
