I'm no nutritionist, but I know what personally works for me when it comes to keeping the weight I think is ideal for me.
I eat three meals a day, and only eat as much as I know I need to function properly. Basically, if I don't think my body literally needs food for energy, I don't eat it. I eat more on days where I'm doing physical work, but still only what I need to keep from feeling hungry.
I also almost never snack. The closest things I have to snacks are one or two coffees while I'm at work, otherwise, a snack, or desert, is more like a replacement for a missed meal rather than something in addition to it.
I try to only drink water for thirst quenching and to wash down my meals. Its good for you, its cheap as free, and it's great for keeping good dental hygiene.
I also recommend that rather than going cold turkey, you replace food with something else. When you get bored, stressed, etc., but you know you don't need more food to function healthily, instead of having anything to eat try something else, like enjoying a slow cup of tea or some other healthy low-energy snack, or play a videogame, or text a friend. Its easy not to think about food when you give yourself enough ways to stay entertained without it.

Everybody's body is different. For me personally - I have a very low tolerance for bread. Also if you eat tomatoes everyday that might help you lose weight. Eggplant could help as well. 1 eggplant has 16 grams of fibre but eating too much fibre will constipate you so try eating 1/4 of an eggplant each day. Just microwave it until it is soft and pour sesame oil and soy sauce on it and mixing it with spices. It doesn't taste that good but it is healthy and very cheap since most people don't eat it. Eat apples and vegetables and cut out oils and sodas and be aware that results are never instantaneous. You might want to replace the bread with a pita but make sure you get a healthy pita because some pitas are just as bad as bread.
Something that you can do that is very easy is switch to water. You would be amazed how just cutting Sodas and iced tea will help you loose weight.
