How to get motivated at the gym?

I totally understand what it's like to lack motivation. What you need is a workout buddy! Bring one of your girlfriends so that you can motivate and inspire each other. If you don't have a friend to bring or don't want to, bring a family member.
I would suggest starting out slow. Try using the treadmills and some light weights first, so that you don't strain your body. Also, make gradual changes to your diet - nothing dramatic. Perhaps add a serving of vegetables to each of your meals. Be sure to drink a lot of water (something I myself need to do more often!). Try to stay away from excessive sugar or salt. It's not easy, but it can be done. You can even ask your workout buddy to help you discipline yourself. They can be your "food police," or something, you know? It's very very challenging to control yourself.

They have classes at the gym, so maybe you could try those. Bring a friend so you don't feel so awkward at they gym. There also personal trainers at they gym that are able to help you
Just imagine yourself in a week, a month, or even a year and put that in your mind. Focus on protein intake (1.5g per bodyweight) and less on carbs (100g or less/day). Do some compound weight training such as barbell squats, bench press, deadlifts, etc. to get your whole body working. Good luck!
