Has anyone gotten the H1N1 shot?

My school is giving them out for free and my mom signed me up to get one. Has anyone gotten it? If so, did it hurt? I've never had the normal flu shot (for that matter, never even had the flu) all I know is that most of the students at my school say its this terrible thing and nobody should get it.

Its highly recommended you get it. I work for the Allegheny County Health Dept, and here in Pittsburgh they're makign it mandatory for all students in public school. You don't have a choice, and for good reason. It can be pretty nasty. I am getting mine Oct 13, when my boss is giving them out.

At my school its optional to get them, but my mom just is playing the "better safe than sorry" card.

Yeah WeaponZero is right. They make this stuff to help people survive, not to hurt them further. They wouldn't spend so much money on the stuff if it was wasn't helpful.

Also how much do you think the students at your school really know about the inner workings of the shot? :D

Mostly my school has that "the government is out to get us theory" pounded in their head. Its really ridiculous.

I have not gotten it and I won't. You should do some research on the shot, it is not something you want to take! The media is trying to scare us into submission but don't drink the Kool-Aid!

Okay well I really don't trust that the government has our best interests at heart. I know some people don't want to believe it but that's how I feel and I will not be getting the swine flu vaccination at all.

Most of the students at your school obviously aren't listening to health officials then, haha. People who are 18 and under are at a higher risk for contracting H1N1, so you're better off getting it.

They've actually been working on an H1N1 vaccine since the '70s. My mom knows a researcher who ended up being one of the first people to test it years ago, and she strongly advised my mom to get both the regular flu shot and H1N1 vaccine.

I'm not getting one and will fight tooth and nail to not get it. Take into account their history, 1987 or something. These so called cures killed hundreds with slow paralysis until they couldn't breathe. No thanks :)
