I was in the beach and I saw there 2 girls. one was shouting, the other was lying down. I run there and saw the girl and she didn't breathe so I did CPR. I dont know why but it worked. I just knew what I was doing. Is it possible to know from my own? cause I haven't taken any courses... maybe from movies? lol
04 Reply- +1 y
I don't know if you can know from your own. You probably know... from movies or from the TV.
- +1 y
It's best to get certified, so that you know for sure that you know what you're doing.

Often the beats per minute, but then the need for rescue breathing was changed, and now they changed from ABC to CBA. How the hell did we not kill all kinds of people if it was always wrong?
04 Reply- +1 y
I don't know. My guess is that you at least need to do the breaths, compressions, (what's A) - but not in a particular order. It's always best to stay up to date, even if it changes. That way, you can say that you were certified to do it the right way.
- +1 y
Airway, Breathing, Compressions. In a lot of cases they are saying don't worry about the breaths, because there is a lot of oxygen in the lungs but the compressions have to be done right away to circulate the blood (with its oxygen) But the constant changes (is that an oxymoron?) confuse the hell out of me.
- +1 y
Like I said, as long as you breath oxygen into the person and you do compressions, then it doesn't matter which order you do them in.
Yes, I first learned the basics of CPR in swimming lessons as a kid. Later on I took a first aid course as part of my job and have had to keep it up to date by retaking the course every couple of years.

Have never had life threatening illnesses or injuries so far. Mainly small injuries and illnesses for which someone needed to be taken home.
Only had to call an ambulance on 1 occasion but 2 days later person was back at work.
I agree with you: CPR should be learnt to pupils at school at age 12 to 14.
Than a short rehearsal every 2 years or so. Here in Europe max. 10% of people are qualified.00 ReplyNo, but this little fella sure does. :)
static.fjcdn.com/.../...squintz_906b2e_4599119.jpg03 ReplyYep, Level 2 first aider and as such have to do cpr refresher course every 12 months..
Have had to use cpr twice at traffic accidents and general first aid on many occasions...
Everybody should learn in high school... but i hope no one has to do it04 Reply- +1 y
Awesome! 12 month CPR refresher? I didn't know that. I know re-certification for CPR in general is every 2 years, is it not? I learned CPR in gym class for the first time, then had to learn it again as a housekeeper. I agree - I hope no one has to use it, but will use it if necessary.
- +1 y
In Australia level 1 (basic level) cpr refresher every 3years, but if you are level 2, it's every year for cpr, and go through the whole course again every 3 years.
It is a requirement of some of my certifications like my confined spaces certificate, and elevated work platform (cherry picker) certificate that i have to have current level 2 first aid.. so work related...
i also use it as a volunteer with fire and emergency services... - +1 y
Oh, okay. I guess countries have different certification regulations.
- +1 y
I'm not sure about the paramedic certifications. Those might be different.
I know CPR. Learnt it properly in my first year of med school. Had to do a few last year in my emergency medicine rotation

u +1 yI learned it once before when I was a security guard, but that was about three years ago, so I don't remember a great deal of it.
01 Reply- +1 y
Maybe you should re-learn it? Just because you don't have a job that requires it, doesn't mean you can know it or perform it.
Yep! I know it all, I work in with people with developmental disabilities, lots of dysphasia so I am required to know it.
01 Reply- +1 y
Good!
I am trained in first aid (including CPR) but I haven't refreshed my memory in a while--plus, I never use it. Knock on wood.
01 Reply- +1 y
You should refresh your memory. Make sure you are up to date, depending on what "a while" means to you. You never know when you may need it.
823 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. We learned it in grade school
where I went to school.
If I still remember how to, I'd say
yeah, I do know CPR. ^.^01 Reply- +1 y
Grade school? Really? Wow! You're lucky. I didn't learn until high school gym class, I think. Maybe try getting certified, so that you know for sure.
I was certified, but my card for CPR and first aid has expired.
I'm about to go get my ETT certification though.03 Reply- +1 y
That's cool. Am I right that ETT certifies you for CPR?

So, are you what is commonly known as a "troll"? I believe the correct numbers are 30 compressions and 2 breaths.
- +1 y
Do you know about "Glasgow trauma staging" ? it varies depending upon the degree of severity.
Don't judge people before knowing them. - +1 y
No, I don't. I wasn't judging, was I? I apologize if I was.
- +1 y
I provided you my opinion based on my knowledge and you called me a "Troll".
- +1 y
I was asking if you were a troll, wasn't I? I wasn't calling you a troll.
- +1 y
What do you think?
- +1 y
I believe I was asking. But there's no way of knowing now, since someone flagged my comment.
- +1 y
That's what I'm asking you - Do you think I'm a troll?
- +1 y
Why are you asking me? I asked you first. I'm starting to think you are. It's not like I can confirm you are truly a doctor, can I?

What's your proffession other than annoying people?
Oh you're Jobless, right?
Oh and you're the first person to enter into my block list, congratulations :)
No I don't but I have been thinking that maybe I should learn.
01 Reply- +1 y
Yeah. It's never too late to learn.
+1 yI was required to learn it in a P. E. class in 9th grade. I do remember the basics. Not too complex.
01 Reply- +1 y
I think I did, too. It may have changed since then as far as the breaths/compressions ratio, but not by much. I know it's 2 breaths and 30 compressions for both adults, kids, and babies.
+1 yYes, I do know because of a first aid course that my class was required to do
01 Reply- +1 y
That's awesome! I learned in high school gym class the first time around.
+1 yKids in High School are required to take CPR. Therefore, most Americans should know how to do it.
05 Reply- +1 y
They are? That's probably a good idea, but I don't know if it was required back in my day. But yes. Most Americans should know how to do it.
- +1 y
It's required in High School, but I live in California. It's been required here since I was a student in the 1980s. I am assuming since you're asking that you don't live in California and it's not required in your state.
- +1 y
Well, certain jobs require you to be CPR certified - like medical fields, schools, etc. Not all jobs require CPR certification. But just because the job doesn't require you to be certified, doesn't mean you can't be certified for your personal benefit.
- +1 y
I'm not sure if it's required in Wisconsin. I just know that I took a gym class in high school that taught it.
+1 yI remember from Boy Scouts, but I never got officially certified, and it's probably changed by now.
03 Reply- +1 y
Maybe a little. Maybe you should try getting certified. That way, it will give you more confidence that you know what you're doing. Re-certification happens every 2 years.
- +1 y
Not a bad idea... thanks for the suggestion.

No I don't, and I really don't wanna get sued so I rather not. CPR comes with a lot of legal stuff.
01 Reply- +1 y
I don't believe you can be sued for performing CPR on a person. I think they have such a thing called the "Good Samaritan" law.

Probably check your local YMCA, hospital, fire station, or Red Cross locations. They should be able to help you with that.
- +1 y
Or check the local technical/community colleges. They might have something there, too.

Oh, okay. Yeah, it's important to make sure we all know how to do it. You never know when you might need it. By any chance did you have to do CPR as a lifeguard?
- +1 y
Oh, wow! Your niece? Whew! That had to be real scary! If you were still a lifeguard, I would have more peace of mind going to your beach, since you have experience in performing CPR in a real world experience.
