I'm a survivor of Brain cancer. I had surgery at 6 months old to remove the tumor from the middle of my head.

It's great that you survived that. A man from my church (and grandfather of a very close friend of mine) was killed by a brain tumor a few years ago. I don't think of it as dying from cancer, I think of it as murder. There's a chance I'll have cancer of some sort later on because of endometriosis. I just had surgery to get rid of the endometriosis and I'm doing great, but that's beside the point. The endometriosis will keep growing back and I'll have to have surgery for it a few more times. It increases my risk of a few kinds of cancer.

I just had my first on Tuesday. I shouldn't have to have another one for quite a while (a few years, probably)

It was the worst around my uterus. The doctor took pictures during the laparoscopy and she said it looked like fingers around my uterus. There were also just blotches of it all over that whole area.

OMG! I'm glad you're ok. :) How painful was it? Will you be able to have kids?

It was like torture. I'm glad it's gone. I can't even begin to describe how miserable it was. As far as having kids, it'll be a challenge but it's not impossible. I'll have to be on hormones (birth control) to keep it from growing back (or at least keep it controlled) so I'm not sure how having kids will work.

I can't even imagine how much pain you had. I was lucky, I don't even remember how much pain I was in at all.

I am not personally a cancer survivor. But my daughter has two cancers, one of which was a brain tumor (pineal blastoma). My wife succumbed to a blood cancer. My mother died of breast cancer. My cousin died of a brain cancer. And the list goes on. Fuck Cancer! Want to see it permanently beaten!

I'm sorry for your losses. I kicked cancer right in the balls, I'll be 21 at the end of May and have been cancer free since I was 6 months

Good for you! But keep watch. My daughter was given something like a 90% chance of long term survival. Later we found that to the doctors, for that kind of cancer, 5 years is considered long term survival. At ten years survival her doctors were really surprised to see her still walking and they had brain scans still scheduled to look for it coming back. Over the years, they are looking less often, but now they are looking for a secondary cancer caused by the initial radiation. So far, so good. Keep a strong watch.

I'm not a cancer survivor, but one day, if cancer is an unfortunate reality for me, I'd wanna survive. However, my mother and grandmother have been cancer free for years. They caught it early. Thanks to their amazing doctors and their strength, they're here today :-)

I had a tumor to wane I was baby and it caused me to have seizures and I had it removed from my Brian when I was 6 and it wasn't cancer
