+1 yFirst tip, never lose weight for someone else. Do itfor YOU and only you. Second tip, download the myfirnesspal app to help guide you. You can put in all of your information like height, weight, typical activity level, etc. and it will calculate what you should be eating in order to lose weight. It will give you a calorie range, but it also says how much carbs, fat, sugar, etc you should have in a day. You do not have to remember all of this stuff ir read boxes. Every time you, eat and type that into the app, it calculates and keeps track. If you are going over the recommended fat grams or something, it will tell you. Third, eat fruits, vegetables, yogurts, boiled/baked/grilled seafood and lean meats. Certain fruits and vegetables like bananas and corn will actually hinder you. When eating bananas, make sure they are green. The more yellow or brown a banana is, the more sugar it contains. Stay away from starches as much as possible. Breads, pastas, rice, etc can continue to put weight on you. Avoid junk foods, fast foods, soft drinks and fried foods. With that said, you do not have to take out these things completely. You just have to limit them to a treat like once or twice a month. Fourth tip, drink half your bodyweight in water every day. For instance, if you are 200 lbs, you should drink 100 oz of water per day. That's about 5 or 6 bottles of water. The more you drink, the less you eat. Try to drink one bottle an hour before each meal and drink a cold glass of water upon waking to help kick your metabolism into gear. It wakes the body up. Adding lemon is great. Water will also hydrate your skin. Fifth tip, portion sizes are a big deal. We usually eat on big plates. Gradually decrease your portion size until you get to the size of the smaller plates. THAT'S about how much you should eat, unless you are very active. Sixth tip, walk at least 30 minutes every day. 90 minutes is even better. Make sure you are working up a sweat and getting your heart going.

+1 yNo sugar and no white carbs. Get your carbs from wholegrains and fruit SPARINGLY. Eat a lot of protein like skinless chicken breast and salads. Also, when you work out don't neglect your strength training. I don't mean something so basic as pilates. That does hardly anything for building muscle. Buy yourself some light dumbells and do your squats. No, you won't get bigger. I myself squat 60 kilos on an average day and I weigh 57 kilos. I just finished off a big mac too.
I used to be chubby at your age. I did all the crash diets and starved myself and ran my ass into the ground with cardio. It doesn't work. The only way to lose weight quicker and keep it of is to work them muscles!!! This is because more muscle means you raise your BMR, which is basically how many calories you burn just staying alive. Breathing, pumping blood, metabolizing etc. So combine that with healthy eating and you're on your way to weight loss!
Also, my mother lost 20 kilos (she was 130 kilos) in 3 months just from cutting out soft drink. Believe it or not. But this is because she used to drink two liters of the stuff a day.02 Reply- +1 y
Though I'm reading all your other comments. I you're already doing so much and not seeing ANY progress, has your doc checked you for a thyroid problem?
Asker+1 yActually, I lost 10 pounds. I haven't weighed myself in a while. :p Just found out yesterday.

+1 ysince your body is still developing, don't go cray on the exercises, just do a moderate amount of exercise, like jog 1 mile a night and really fix up your eating habits. losing weight is all about that diet, eat clean, eat healthy, and most important do not over eat.

Asker+1 yWhat about crunches?
- +1 y
not just crunches full on ab circuits too! the fastest way to lose weight is hard workout every day (with only 3 days off)
Asker+1 yGot it. I'll switch to sit ups.
- +1 y
not sit ups crunches are better provided you do them correctly. i think you should do ab circuits which is simply put a collection of ab workouts you have to do in a set time and rotation keep doing them every other day and that fat will shave off like butter i used to be fat too when i was younger
Asker+1 yOkay. :)
- +1 y
Spot reduction is a myth. Doing a ton of crunches will strengthen your abs, but it won't "shave off fat like butter".

its not a myth i used to be fat :/

+1 yFirst off! Don't lose any weight for your boyfriend! If he can't accept you for how big or how small you are then he's an ass and you should leave him. And since you're 16 and assuming (and hoping) you're in high school this should be relatively easy. I had this same problem. I pushed myself in a sport. My freshman year I was overweight and I couldn't run for shit. Any exercise would have me short of breath but, I still could eat. Then one day I got tired of looking the way that I did and blindly joined soccer. I'm not gunna lie tryouts were a week long and were killer. I had stomach cramps and I sweated like a pig. My throat hurt from excessively pushing my lungs (I. e. running hard and taking short breaths). But, I didn't quit! I made it through and pretty soon. Practice became easier and weight loss was successful. During soccer season I noticed my appetite shorten and I only ate chicken salads. Sometimes I'd binge eat on junk food on the weekends. But, I feel if I could do it. You can do it too. Just believe you can do it.

Oh so he's for your weight loss? That's cool. I thought when you mentioned him I figured he was telling you to not supporting. But still. Join a sport. It'll be fun and you'll make friends and you'll love it so much. You'll forget you're trying to lose weight.
Asker+1 yAh, he's supportive. :) I will join the volleyball team next year. I'm already in the school marching band.

Awesome! What instrument do you play?
Asker+1 yThe flute. :)

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yWell eat a healthy diet of a minimal amount. Don't skip breakfast. Breakfast gives you energy for the day. People who doesn't get there morning energy might be more sluggish in the day which leads to not being as active (burning less calories in activities). Don't starve your self to be skinnier it is not very healthy and it's unsafe. But the thing is that people can eat a lot and stay fit. Its because they burn the calories out of the body in various exercises. Calorie in calories out. You should start doing exercises/activities more frequently but try so hard that it hurts your self. Restrict large amounts of greasy, sugary, etc foods. But that doesn't mean you can't eat them at some times! If you want something sweet try a fruit. They have natural sugars. The skins or something like that on the fruits have fiber in them which helps the super get absorbed. Juice is only the juice. It most of the time doesn't contain the fiber which controls the suger. Also one more thing be patient. Results won't come fast. Well I extracted all of my knowledge in this from health class to PARCC to reaserch. I hope you succeed!

Asker+1 yOkay, thank you.
+1 yYou need to talk to a doctor. Get your parents to take you so you can be approved to start dieting or getting on an exercise plan.
From there, what I did when I beefed up over the holidays was I cut out a lot of salt, red meat, pork, and white/refined carbs. I eat mainly chicken and fish, whole wheat carbs with lots of vegetables and fruit. I also workout for about an hour 4 days a week, but you can do 30 minutes 3 days a week to start out. Do a little cardio and some strength. Drink lots of water and make sure you get your appropriate daily amounts of all of your nutrients like calcium, vitamins, protein, etc.03 Reply
Asker+1 yAlright I will.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 y- Buy jeans one or several sizes smaller than your current size. Don't wear it yet but put it somewhere where it'll remind yourself that you'll fit into them someday (like on top of your jeans pile or something).
- Buy a really pretty journal and keep a food diary. You can look up studies that say it helps. I personally kept a food diary in a language I was still learning so one day if I'm don't feel like looking up a word, I'll just not eat it lol
- If you're not into exercise, walk more. You'd be surprised by how much it helps. For several months I ate a lot of junk food but walked almost everywhere in my day-to-day life and lost a lot of weight. =) If you have a dog, you can walk him/her more often, or if not, volunteer at a shelter.02 Reply
Opinion Owner+1 yOhh another one. I don't know if you buy your own food but if you do, use that money to buy a material item to treat yourself. Like a new purse or something.
Asker+1 yI walk my dog. :) And I have a pair of jeans that are smaller that I've been dying to wear.
Workout and eat healthier, this is truly the best way to lose weight.

Asker+1 yI'm trying. I don't eat snacks and I don't drink soda or eat sweets.
Asker+1 yI got it.
Download myfitnesspal onto your phone to track you calories and work out. Walk 3 times a week for at least half an hour and basic strength training.

Asker+1 yAh, cardio. Does walking the dog every day help?
Asker+1 yI've been trying to walk at least once a day, and I have a Zumba class
Asker+1 yOh, I will.
Eating less calories is the only way to lose weight.
Asker+1 yI do. I limited myself to 1,500 calories a day.
Asker+1 yI don't eat much, I just have a slow metabolism.
Asker+1 yOk. Then how many calories should I eat?
Asker+1 yOh I do. :) I have a calorie counter on my phone, and I check how many calories each food I eat has.
- +1 y
Actually I can vouch too. I weigh 190, and I've eaten less and less over the past 2 years or so, down to around 1500 cals a day right now, and I haven't lost any weight at all. Actually, probably less calories usually. I can't fucking explain it.
Asker+1 yI wasn't talking about the app, I was talking about myself. After I realized I was counting wrong I got the app. 😕
- +1 y
Here i am. To explain it. You aren't exercising enough to burn off the avg calories you should be if you were more active. Let me explain it. Someone who eats 1500 calories but sits behind a computer all day is going to stay the same while someone eating 3000 calories and doing something super physical like football can lose weight. I lost 40 lbs last fall football season and i didn't change my eating habits one bit.
Asker+1 yI don't sit behind a computer all day. 😕 I jog and walk my dog. Also, my mother has an elliptical that I use. How do you know what I do?
+1 yI'd recommend reading "The Calorie Myth Book" by Jonathan Bailor

you can't mess your metabolism up, i know what im talking about... you dont, you can actually speed your metabolism up by losing weight...
Asker+1 yYes you can. You can slow it down. My doctor tells me not to stop eating for days on end. You need food in your body for energy and cellular processes.
- +1 y
you can still lose weight by eating food...
Asker+1 yI know
