I recently (like two days ago) decided that I wanted to gauge my ears. I've had my ears pierced since I was 3, but I hardly ever wear earrings. I bought 14g tapers and plugs, but now I'm not sure if I should have started smaller, maybe 16g? I took a shower, because I heard that helps and then lubed the suckers up and popped them in. Yeah there was the burn and sting but I thought that was to be expected.
They were fine the first day, but today they were killing me. I had my friend look at them and she said they looked infected. So I went home and took them out (which was an episode all in itself) and then washed the holes and put some neosporin on them. Later tonight I soaked them in some hot salt water and then put some hydrogen peroxide on them, but I'm a bit worried because I have big lumps behind my ears and going down my neck. Two bumps behind my left (the worst) ear and one big one behind my right ear (which is doing way better than the left ear). My jaw and neck are also very sore to the touch around my ears and it hurts to turn my head to the right, like I'm pulling on my ear and something in my neck.
Is there anything else I should be doing? Should I be worried about my nasty ears? I just want to know if I've done everything I can do at home to get rid of this case of gross. Thanks!
