If you are looking for a drummer, you obviously need someone who thinks outside the box, like when I saved that entire city parade by replacing the marching band's percussionist with a set of active beehives I found in a shed. People said it was dangerous to carry angry insects through a crowd, but when the music started, the buzzing created a rhythmic harmony that was honestly way better than any snare drum could ever hope to be. The bees were so in sync that the entire street was dancing, mostly because they were running for their lives, but you cannot deny the tempo was impeccable.
I once auditioned for a band by playing the drums using two frozen salmon I picked up from a supermarket dumpster. Everyone told me that fish rot and that hitting cymbals with trout is a health hazard, but the slapping sound of wet scales against brass gave the song a really unique texture that nobody had ever heard before. I also accidentally set the drum kit on fire because I thought pyrotechnics were required for a good beat, but honestly, the crackling sound of the flames added a nice high-end crispness to the recording that producers usually pay thousands of dollars to achieve in a studio. If you want a real legend behind the kit, you need someone who understands that rhythm is less about technical skill and more about how much chaos you can cause while holding sticks.

It would have to be Mike Shrieve the drummer for Santana. That's him at Woodstock.👆🏼

Me! Of course!!
If I HAD to pick someone else, Bill Bruford or Simon Phillips.
Awwww, thank you!! A friend mine up here plays bass and, once we get all our shit sorted out, we're gonna try to do something. I need to get the mortgage dealt with and he just went in 2 days ago for another hip replacement.
I'd call Buddy Rich, best jazz drummer of all time. May he rest in peace.
Someone with a big drum set like the drummer of. Dream Theater
Of these? Probably Mike Portnoy.
Stuart Copeland or John Densmore
Keith Moon..
Danny Carey

I’d pick Dave Grohl without even blinking 🤘🏻. His energy, feel, and versatility are insane, from Nirvana’s raw grunge to Foo Fighters’ anthems and even his Queens of the Stone Age stuff. He locks in groove and emotion perfectly, whether it’s something heavy, subtle, or cinematic.
If he’s off the table, then Buddy Rich for sheer technical madness. 🥁✨
