Yes!
Happened for the first time about 3 years ago and I have never been so freaked out.
I realized that the feeling and hallucination couldn't be real even while still paralyzed but that didn't really matter because I could still see and sense it which made me panic.
Once I could move, I hopped out of bed and turned on every light in the house! They remained in until dawn! lol23 Reply- +1 y
There's never any hallucinations for me, but yeah the first time that happens you're like 'WOAH AM I DEAD? I can't MOVE O. O'
I went downstairs and spoke to my dad to check if I was 100% alive 😂
But it mainly happens when you are tired ^^ - +1 y
Haha! Good for you about the hallucinations.
I went to see my Dr a week later and he explained to me what it was and that it happens sometimes.
Brain isn't fully awake, mixes your dream and reality causing the hallucination and feeling of something in the room with you. So your brain shuts down signals to the body so that you can't act out against your dreams and hurt yourself.. Lol
I was under stress at work and sleep deprived that week... Dr said that's likely what caused it. - +1 y
Omg thanks for the explanation! :o
Indeed, it usually happens when I have to work more than 12 hours a day.
But good call with the dr haha 😄😄

How did you feel? Creeped out? Scared? Relieved? XD
- +1 y
I wanted to wake up. I don't like not being in control of my body.
- +1 y
I know me too, but with time you know what to do ykno?
- +1 y
Just wait it out and stay calm. That works for me.
- +1 y
True! I do that too! Thanks for sharing!
+1 yOnly once... it was really terrifying and stressful. I know you're not supposed to struggle against it, but it was hard not to. :l
11 Reply- +1 y
Well it is pretty normal to want to move when you wake up haha, it's a normal reflex so when you realize that you can't do much, thats when you panic out of fear. Pretty normal girl, you aren't the only one :)
+1 yThank god, no. If that happened to me I'd be traumatized for life. These things creep me out.
11 Reply- +1 y
Just don't become sllep deprived and it won't happen..
Maybe scary but quite an experience!!

- +1 y
Yeee exactly 'bruh' 😂😂👌
LOL YOUVE GOT NO CHILL LOL. You made it super creepy - +1 y
You did by telling me the name lol ;)
Next time I'm paralyzed i'll be like Tom from the Boondocks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fZvy3A-_1o - +1 y
Ahahahahahaha! Good one! 😂
+1 yNope, never happened to me, actually. But I've heard it's unpleasant.
112 Reply- +1 y
It is actually. You feel impuissant and the only thing that moves are your eyes
- +1 y
Awkward. To be fair, I probably don't have sleep paralysis because I have a tendency to sleepwalk.
- +1 y
Oh you sleep walk?
It usually happens when you are super sleep deprived :/ - +1 y
Ah. I always look like I'm sleepy, or at least that is what people say, hah.
- +1 y
Haha omg wow, thanks for sharing!
- +1 y
Actually, I think it mostly has to do with being disturbed in the NREM3 sleep stage. That's when they'd have to go to NREM2 then NREM1 then REM to wake up, but that's way too far up, so they don't really wake up, just partly. I could even talk to people, get up, look at things, walk up and down a room, hell once I went from room A to room B because I fell asleep in front of the PC.
- +1 y
Yeah another user explained it too..
Wow, isn't that amusing to your friends? :3 - +1 y
It doesn't happen THAT often, and I don't tend to sleep in the same place as my friends. I tend to sleep mostly at home. Pretty much almost always, to be exact.
- +1 y
I have creeped my brother out with that, though.
- +1 y
Oh, do you remember about it the next day?
- +1 y
of course not :P
- +1 y
Haha I was curious ^^
No but its a very fascinating if not scary thing when it happens
11 Reply- +1 y
The first time it'll be scary but then its a great experience too 😊😊
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yYeah, it's not uncommon. The first time it happened to me I was worried about it and spoke to some buddies, I found out it is colloquially known as "the devil's rape" :/ haha
16 Reply- +1 y
Lmaoo wtf devil's rape. It happens to me often, esp when I'm super tired
Opinion Owner+1 yHaha, that was my reaction when I heard that! I used to do shift work and it'd be through the night a lot of the time, so my sleep pattern was messed up and I was really tired too. Since I stopped doing that and got into a better routine, the sleep paralysis stopped.
- +1 y
Makes sense. I don't mind it but when it comes unexpectedly, it's quite worrisome
Opinion Owner+1 yYeah, the first time it happened I was like, I'm awake but I can't move.. shit! But I suppose you relax about it because once you've had it happen and then you're ok, you know it doesn't actually do you any harm.
- +1 y
Exactly, staying calm is the way to go
Thanks for sharing!!
Opinion Owner+1 yNo worries!

12 Reply- +1 y
It is scary, you're conscious but your body can't move. You can't talk so its not cool
- +1 y
yeah she told me about it
+1 yI never have it happened to me, but I find it interesting because it helps explain away mythological creatures and even most of alien abductions!
11 Reply- +1 y
Haha wow, I suppose. Its a thrilling experience! I thinl it's great if it happens here and there
Ya... i have experienced that before... but only 2 times randomly... it was kind of adventurous experience... LOL
18 Reply- +1 y
True, i was scared the first time it happened, but now its okay. Its quite cool! XD
- +1 y
WHAT? I just had shivers for a sec. Wasn't it scary?
- +1 y
Omg I would've tried yelling or something 😂
IMAGINE IF IT WAS - +1 y
YA REAL. OMG HIDE!
+1 yYes very often in the past. At first I thought it was horrible. Now I want it to happen again.
13 Reply- +1 y
Haha same, just to know what the feeling is again
- +1 y

- +1 y
Ouh good to know 😄
I get that quite a lot, it use to really scare me but now I'm not that bad with it because it doesn't last long
13 Reply- +1 y
True with time it doesn't last long and you kinds know what to do whenever it happens
- +1 y
Yeah that heavy feeling and you're like, 'ugh -,-'
yes many times actually :)
16 Reply- +1 y
Same, I can easily get away with it. But it's still scary though D:

Are you sleep deprived?
- +1 y
Yup. I have insomnia.

- +1 y
Oh yay! It HAS to stay that way!
+1 yOnce, I felt so helpless..
11 Reply- +1 y
Yeah.. Me too, but it is also another thrilling experience 😊
+1 yI have. Several times. It's terrifying
13 Reply- +1 y
It always is. But with time you learn to relax whenever it happens. Except when it comes unexpectedly
- +1 y
It comes so randomly that I'm always disoriented and can't get a grip. But if it happened more regularly or often to me I'd learn to relax better when it happens.
- +1 y
Indeed, it's quite terrifying... Its usually becayse you are sleep deprived
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt's the worst thing ever...
11 Reply- +1 y
I know! Super scary!
Anonymous(30-35)+1 ymany times actually
