You need to unwind before bed - no laptop or internet before bed! Let your brain switch off. Read a book or something.
During the day, do you exercise? That helps clear your mind too, as well as making you physically tired and more likely to want to sleep.
I totally understand how you feel - if I know I have something big or important the following day that I need to be well rested for, my brain will refuse to switch off.

I'm just like you. During the day, I can sleep just fine. However at night, I'm up until 3 in the morning. Which makes me tired during the day when I work. Its annoying as hell.
