Long story short I hit my head on a metal pole and now I have had a headache all night and day, even with panadol.

Yeah you need to get medical attention at the ER at the hospital or
go to your Family Doctor. Any time it causes a headache that last
too long you could have blood clot, or hairline bleeding of the brain
sorry for scaring you but it's better you know the truth for your safety.

Go immediately. You could have a concussion or a subdural hematoma. The latter can kill you in a matter of hours.
