Diabetes experts out there? Please help?

Hi, I've had neuropathy for about 3-4 years now... it's basically nerve damage.. correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway I know that neuropathy can be linked to diabetes and recently I've been noticing some weird things about my body. I've read about symptoms of diabetes and I recognize that I had:
*numbness (in my fingers only!!!) -also it would stay numb for a long time... like about a week or longer
*nerve tingling... ish... right above my foot
*my arms used to randomly feel weak and i could barely lift them
*have a little bit of random dizziness here and there
I also need to really point out that I have had no pain whatsoever. The only pain I've had is being sore from working out lol. I also dont have the best eating habits but I am starting to eat a lot healthier now. This is starting to concern me and I will call my doctor soon. My parents know I have numbneess and stuff and they know I have neuropathy but they seem to shake off the fact that diabetes is linked. I was just wondering if you guys and gals had any knowledge or experience of diabetes and/or other medical issues that could relate to what I have? Thanks.. :)

Okay I know I'm 14 but I have a younger sister who has had diabetes for about 7 years and I have to watch her. She has type one so things are alittle different. Her body doesn't make insulin at all and type 2 makes insulin but it just doesn't work. My sis hasn't had nerve problems but she does get really thristy a lot and she had this bad rash which we took her to the doctor for and found out she had type 1 diabetes. I've read stuff on it and there is a possibltly that you could have it even if your not over weight. I recommend getting somthing to check your blood sugar ( my family calls it a poker but I'm not sure that's the right name) and see if your blood sugar is over 150 after u eat bc that's a sign of diabetes.

If you do happen to have it it's the not the end of the world. Don't eat a lot of cereal bc that makes my sisters blood sugar spike. Advoid lots of sugary foods and wheat/grain bc that makes blood sugar spike. Cheese, eggs and meat is good but It won't raise your blood sugar so u can eat that whenever you're hungry so u dont Have to worry about rasing your blood sugar. Also get a pump so u don't have to take a shot everytime u eat.

I recently started experiencing similar problems along with blacking out. Well my neighbor is diabetic and offered to check my sugar levels before and after a meal. I was a little below normal levels on both and diabetes is when your above normal so im not diabetic (as far as im aware).

From looking up my symptoms online it could be a thyroid problem among other things... But im hoping to make it into the clinic sometime this week to get blood tests done to see whats going on.

Id advise on going to see a doc about it, never can be too safe...

Speak with your doctor as soon as you can get an appointment.
Yes, you may have diabetes, or there may be something else going on.
Whatever is happening, it is clearly serious and absolutely life threatening.
Untreated type-2 diabetes will lead to: diabetic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy (you go blind), kidney failure (you die), gangrene and the resulting amputation of arms and legs, usually legs first.
If not diabetes, you could have any one of a shopping list of degenerative neurological conditions.
Seek medial help immediately.

definitely sounds like neuropathy. My grandma had diabetes for 40 years and had it too.

Yes neuropathy can be caused by diabetes, but no one on here can say for sure what is causing your symptoms because you would need to be tested and examined by a doctor because there are many other things that can cause neuropathy eg liver disease, kidney disease, injury etc.

what was ur last hemoglobin level like? Very high?

AND DO YOU TAKE UR INSULIN.

Well, I haven't checked I know that's bad. And I don't take insulin because it hasn't been confirmed if I'm a diabetic or not :3 How did you find out you had type one?

Well I was twelve and suddenly I started to become really tired, mad thirsty, went to pee every like 2-3 minutes (legit), VERY irritated, I couldnt sleep at night. Plus what you have, but rarely.

So I went to the pharmacy and they took my blood sugar and discovered that I have diabetes.

Try going to the doctor and see how that goes. Could be diabetes but something else too

Oh geez... yea Im gonna really try to set up an appointment here soon, I don't want to put this off for too long. You did be more specific about the peeing thing because online it said "pee all the time" but I was confused as to how often, so ya that did help me a little bit haha thanks

I am no expert on neuropathy-induced-diabetes. Why not see a doctor? It's the best thing you can do right now.
