IT THIS GOING TO GET BETTER?

UGH HELP I just got braces today and the pain is driving me crazy! my teeth are SO SORE I can't stand it! I've taken a tylenol and I'm still waiting for it to affect me. is this ever going to get better? I can't deal with two years of this torture!!!

It definitely gets better. It just hurts because they were working on them today. You won't even notice them in a few hours. Keep taking pain killers. Swishing cold water or using OraGEL really helps too, it is what you rub on a baby's gums to numb them when they are teething.
It has been 12 years since I got mine off (holy crap) and I'm sure the technology is improved today, but mine only hurt once in awhile and usually it was only for a few hours after they worked on them. Take pain killers on the way to the orthodontist, so that you don't have to deal with the pain to begin with.
If you had spacers (rubber bands they put between your teeth before they put the braces on) those were the most annoying and painful part of the whole process.
The only other time they ever caused me pain is when the wire would stick out the back and dig into my cheek. You can either cut the wire with (an new sanitized) pair of nail clippers or my orthodontist gave cases of wax that you put on the end so that it didn't poke.

I know how you feel, it starts getting better after a few days and in a couple of weeks the pain will probably have left completely.

yep it gets better, much better, i had to get rubber bands placed between my teeth to space them out, felt like someone held a wrench to my teeth and clapped for 3 weeks

It's going to hurt the first few weeks, but after that, it will become second nature!

They pain usually subsides after the first or second week.

Obviously it'll get better. People with braces aren't constantly in pain for 2 years ya know. :D
