That's true. The other day I was walking down the street and a cop stopped me and fined me because I'm not that ripped. I'm not even fat, I'm skinny/lean, but the cop said I had to be more ripped in order to be able to be outside. I didn't know about this, but he said it's law, and it actually is. When I went to pay the fine I was told that if I didn't get ripped I'd had to pay a monthly fine, but if I'm already working out I could just show them the prove that I'm going to a gym and avoid having to pay the fine.
It's a myth that Americans are obese, they're all super ripped.
