Do girls grow taller only if they get their periods later?

Anonymous
A couple of my friends are wondering why they stop growing so early in their early teens or even at age 12; some of them also come from tall parents and yet are a lot shorter. Meanwhile from ages 12-16, I've grown from 5'4 to 5'11.

One of my friends got her period already when she was 10 and grew very slower for the next two years and then stopped. All the others got it when they were 11-14 years old and again either didn't grew that much or stayed that height for years.

I got it when I was a couple weeks from turning 16. That year was my last inch too. Now I'm 17 and looks like I've finally stopped but before having my period, it did seemed nonstoppable. I know genes is part of it in my case so doesn't it also depends on the time we get our periods? It's like getting the periods can be a curse the earlier a girl gets it.
