How do you deal with a SO that is quitting smoking and is having a hard time?

My SO is quitting and is having a very hard time. He gets mad at everything, could be someone driving or something I say. Its making me feel horrible, except I want him to quit so bad. What do I do?

all you can do really is be supportive, make him yummie food and snacks, kiss him a lot!!! tell him how proud of him you are. tell him he smells much better without cigarette breath. give him treats to keep him positive. the first days are the worst days. once you get over the first couple days/weeks, he'll feel much better.

I've done all those things. He keeps finding reasons to be mean or threaten me with going and buying a pack. I am such a lose as to what else to do.

if he's threatening to buy a pack, he's playing games. if he really wants to quit he will do what it takes to quit. all you can really do is just not put up with his bs. its not YOUR fault he started smoking in the first place, so you shouldn't feel bad and he shouldn't be treating u like crap. have you maybe thought about an aid to help him? like the patch or the gum or a e cig?

he has a e-cig, has tried the patch and said it doesn't help. It is the threats that bother me the most. And I don't know how to bring this up without a war erupting. I didn't force him to quit, it was his decision.

how long has it been? maybe it will pass soon and you just gotta wait it out. ugh i know thats horrible. i used to smoke and then just abrubtly quit.. maybe you just gotta give him a little space, but still be supportive from afar.

Its been a week kind of. He hasn't completely gone without a cigarette. He bummed on from a friend each day except today and today he is a nightmare. I even asked if he wanted some space. He said no but I don't want to keep feeling like everything I say is going to drive him towards a cigarette
