Can I use this slightly outdated deodorant and toothpaste I found?

It's in a travel duffle bag. The deodorant is roll-on and dates 12/96 and the toothpaste 5/00

I would. Give it the ol' smell test first before you use it. I really do not believe in expiry dates for products like that. I believe those dates are just a conspiracy to scare customers to throw away perfectly good products and spend more money to buy "fresh" stuff.
