Do you have experinced a panic attack?
If this is the case, how do you calm down yourself?
Comment down below! ♡
I've had three. All have been since January. They are horrible. I see why people end up in an emergency room the first time, you feel like you're dying. Plain and simple.
My first one it took 3 days to recover. It was violent for about 10 minutes. I passed out in the shower and the first thing that came to my mind was I had MS (my mother does and she use to pass out in the shower because of it.) That caused me to panic more and I started uncontrollably vomitting to which my brain started thinking "omg I don't have MS, I'm pregnant!" After awhile I remembered an episode of sex and the city where Miranda has a panic attack, realized that was what was probably happening, calmed down enough to google it. Once I realized it was a panic attack (other symptoms like numb hands before I passed out that I didn't realize at first) I calmed down. But it took 3 days to be able to think about the thoughts/worry that induced it without feeling my body start freaking out again.
The second one was mild, I could feel it coming on and was able to be proactive about it before it got bad.
Knowing what they are is pretty much what gets me over it now. The third one, I passed out 3 times within a few minutes. My cat woke me by licking me after I fell to the floor. Then she snuggled up to me until I calmed down. Her purring helped. She did not leave my side the rest of the day. I'm convinced that she knew.
I pretty much calm down my realizing I'm just having a panic attack. Laying down. Drink water if I can. And stopping all thought of the thoughts that caused me to panic. The cat really helps too lol.
Wow, your cat should get an award! That's amazing ♡♡♡♡
Yeah. She is actually normally the stand-offish cat so that behavior was even more significant.
The other thing I wanted to mention is that I have an app on my phone that takes your heart rate. I use that during an attack to monitor it, make sure it isn't getting too high, and that it is responding to me trying to calm down. It gives me something to focus on because I like numbers and measurements of things.
Can you tell me the name of the app, please? :)
Thank you !
Yes I have, it's really bad. Thankfully I was at home during two of my worst attacks so at least I felt safe.
If you get one in public (very common in big crowds), try to go somewhere a bit more private, maybe off to the side or somewhere where you can sit down for a moment. For me, drinking a little water and sitting down usually helps, since I tend to feel woozy. Being near a friend also helps for me, especially if I can talk to them about how I'm feeling. Taking deep breaths is important, breathe in with your nose and out with your mouth. I think the interval should be around 2-3 seconds per breath (in 3 + out 3). It helps slow down your heart rate.
Everyone is different though so it's important to try to figure out what works and doesn't work for you. Don't force yourself to do anything that has been suggested, if it ends up making you feel more anxious.
Wow, I really feel the same in big crowds /:
And thank you for your advice, I will try it. ♡♡♡♡
No problem! Feel free to PM me whenever you want if you have more questions or anything else to say. My anxiety isn't so bad that I need meds for it but I do have episodes (stressful times) that cause me to feel very anxious, sometimes (rarely) even to the point of panicking. So I'm not a "pro" or anything but I know the basics and would be happy to help you further if you need it. Stay safe! :)
Thank you so much! ♡♡♡♡
Oh, yes. From now on everyone of my teachers know it :)
I know what you're going through, they're horrible. I had my first one in the middle of the night at some point in December and my body was trying to fight it off, as well as trying to fight off a cold as well and it couldn't fight both, I was ill for a while.
I still get the odd one now but I generally just try and breathe and relax. Convince myself that I'm safe and that it's just all in my head. I am also on medication to help slow my heart down a little bit so maybe you could somehow try medication?
Yeah, I take Sertrialina. It's an antidepressant.
I had my first panic attack qpwhen I was like 5yo. I'm always with my brother in school, and back then I did it too. The thing is that this day my brother didn't came to school with me, so when I exited the classroom (usually he was waiting for me in the door) I started to breath anormally because I saw too many people in the hall... That was horrible.
I can imagine it being difficult :/ Panic attacks really are horrible
Sorry I never had a panic attack...
Ok wait
Ummm
Someone uploaded your pic today and he's finding you I guess
And I'm sure that those were your pics 😶
Oh, yes. Thank you. I had solved that, but thanks for the advise ^^

I have them and when I do I just try deep breathing and I tell myself I am being dumb and I am not really having a panic attack, that I am just looking for attention and then I calm down... probably not a healthy way to do it and probably doesn't work for many people
That's a good way, believe me.
The first times I had panic attacks I usually cried and... I coudn't do anything. But then the therapist told me to count to 7 and inhalate, contain the air counting to 7 and then release the air counting again til 7.
Panic attack? I don't recall, but actually when I was 16, I was diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) which is a anxiety disorder too.
A panic attack is a intense feeling if fear, it's an episode when you can feel your heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, or feelings of unreality. What is like to have OCD? (If you wanna answer, of course)
I could understand... AD isn't something you wanna wish to someone else /:
By God's Grace never. :)
I'm glad you've never got one. AD aren't something you could wish to happen to someone else.
Thank you so much! ♡♡♡♡
