Why do I have a painful heaviness in my legs while running lately?

I've gained some weight this year so I'm really starting to get into fitness again. I've ran a few miles everyday for the past few days and I hope to continue to do so. For some reason today my legs felt like they had weights strapped to my ankles. I jogged because I couldn't really run. Do I need a break or is this just something I should push myself through? I'm afraid to cause damage and have setbacks though.. Like I feel like I'm going backwards for some reason..

Any advice from runners would be appreciated.
