Try raw garlic and ginger with lemon and honey... maybe a hint of cayenne. Fresh and raw is best but you can make meals or a tea.

I don't follow recipes when I cook but these are pretty close to what I make for myself when I get sick. those week long colds that people only last 2 days with drinking 12-24 cups of the tea a day.

Plenty of rest, chamomile tea helps or really any kind of tea will also help a little bit, get plenty of vitamin C, a steamy shower or inhaling steam will help clear your nose, hot soup will help as well.
Drink hot chocolate or hot soup, inhale steam, or take tablets (it' called 'Coldact' here, and cures cold within 10 minutes. Don't know what's the US equivalent).
Ginger tea, honey and lemon in warm water, stay hydrated, get lots of rest.
