Soreness can be caused by a few things, lactic acid buildup in the muscle and also broken muscle fibers that are rebuilding to be stronger. Usually, your body gets used to your workout, so you may find that with repetition, your body becomes less sore. This is the reason that you should do as many different workouts and work as many different muscles as frequently as you can so that you're body does not get used to a certain workout. Also, increasing weight may also help to keep your body working.

Generally speaking I only experience that kind of soreness my first few times going through that workout. Once my body gets used to the idea of performing that specific movement under load, it doesn't matter how hard I push myself. I don't really experience that soreness again.
