Weight loss query?

I'm aware that weight loss happens once you have more energy expended than consumed. I love eating a variety of food and different dishes from the globe. Is there any safe portion size I can use for foods like stews, lasagne, sauces and carbs so that I keep to a low energy intake once it comes to dinner time? I'm noting that I start my day well (breakfast, lunch or fast until lunch)*. It's once mid afternoon and dinner time comes that my eating habits are pretty erractic. I like something sweet which could be mango and greek style yogurt or a slice of cake at that time. I could eat potato chips or some candies nearer to dinner time which may comprise of rice with a sauce with meat OR meat with another complex carb and veg. I would then eat several pickings of candies since I like something sweet to eat at night.

* I tend to like warm food at lunch time such as a thick soup like Irish stew or a baked potato with cottage cheese and chives. I walk on average 468 mins of walking in 5 days. I weigh 165 lbs and I'm 165 cm.

Your advice would be great! Thank you
