Is it it possible for my baby to have get hair?

My pregnant wife has red hair, and she wants at least one redhead kid. I know both parents have to have the red hair gene for the kid to have a chance of having red hair. I'm black, but I have some Scottish ancestry on my dad's side. On my mom's side I have ancestors who were either English or Irish. (I don't really know which.) These ancestors are very far back. They were like my great great great grandparents. Is it possible that if they had the red hair gene, then it is still present in me? My wife really wants her redhead.

My cousin and his girlfriend has a 1 year old with hair just like the picture below and about the same skin tone. Both are black for the most part but somewhere down the line is white ancestry with red hair. I'd say the chances of your kid having red hair are high, it might not be as red as the mother's.

Look up who the most recent redhead was in your family tree. If it's as far back as the people you mentioned, then there's almost no chance you've got the ginger allele.

I know these two mixed people, one of them their black side is "pure" African... and they both have ginger hair. And in my family, my siblings and I are mixed, and while we all have dark brown hair, we all have chestnut red highlights too.
