i would love to loose 30-40 pounds ideally.
does anyone think that losing 40 pounds in two months is healthy or possible?
any suggestions?
thanks
It is possible and I did it. I graduated on May 30, 2008; I weighed 196 being 5'6. That summer I ate healthier, no fats at all. I used to take out and fast food 5-6 days a week, eating burgers, pizza, etc. The day after graduating I decided it was time for a change. I always wanted to lose the weight but I didn't have a good motivator. Since I was starting college in the fall, I figured might as well get to work. I got down to 147 by August 3.
I ran everyday for 30 minutes, usually pulling in 3-4 miles.
I did absolutely NO weight work outs (dumb bells etc).
Did 20 pushups, situps and crunches everday and increase the numbe by 5 every week.
I cooked my own food, with no fats, also its cheaper and tastes better than fast food
I ate a lot of fruits
Drank only water the entire time and I still drink only water, with gatorade being my second drink.
Don't push yourself too hard, but it can be done. I feel healthier, stronger, and way better than I did. I got a lot of compliments of course friends did say they thought it was unhealthy until they saw how good the change was.
I know its possible, but most likely not healthy, don't rush yourself to get in shape it won't last long, your talking to a guy who works out for 2 hours a day here, Start by doing just Sit-ups push-up and going for short runs of 10 minutes, then slowly increase the number of sitps and push ups you do, add more tim to your run, start looking at your diet cut out as much junk food as possible.
After you drop 10 pounds or so I would recommend going to a gym and gettting a fitness trainer to help you. You might not lose those 40 pounds for 4 months but its always worth it
also keep this in mind when your working out, it is very true and applies to me very well

its really impossible to slim down fast in a healthy way. don't ever try to take those sliming pills. don't push yourself too hard, your body has limitations.if you can't reach it for this summer at least you had already become slimmer. next year's summer you're sexy. try this tips I know to reach your goal:
~have some soup before main course. so u'll feel a little full before filling your self with much carbs and sugar.
~ fruits as desserts & snacks. I read that the best way to eat fruits s when you are hungry, our body absorbs lesser when we are not too hungry.
~ more fruits and veggies. it fills you, won't dehydrate and dry your soft skin.
~ fish oils are good for the body, it helps sweep those unwanted stored fats. margarine is better than butter.
~ drink plenty of water and fresh juice. it keeps you fresh and full. it has no carbs, sugar nor fats.
~ exercise regularly, don't push yourself too much, you might end a day with muscle fatigue and pain all over. ask your fitness coach how often. brisk walking and jogging are inexpensive way.
I don't think that much weight to lose in two months is healthy. A healthy amount of weight to lose a week is 1-2 lbs. If you burn 1000 calories a week doing exercise that should burn 2 lbs . That's if you eat healthy as well too. Focus on you find is not too much of a challenge, but a challenge. Like don't run 5 miles everyday, instead walk and then jog and proceed to running. Push yourself each time a little bit the last time. Start up with strength training that involves you using your own body like push ups, and chair dips.

I know a great healthy way. But you have to be strong.
Google: hcg diet or hcg protocol or Dr. Simeon's protocol.
I did it and it was fantastic. So I can tell you that it works, even if it sounds too good to be true.
you can message/ chat with me if you have any questions...
I lost 18 pounds in 23 days. I went to the doctor and I'm perfectly healthy.
I actually googled it and it sounds really fantastic.
but it seemed a little on the expensive side...
I think its too much, too fast. Cause if you work out out, its 60 (ish) days, so 60 dividided by 40 is 1.5. So you'll have to lose minimum 1.5 pounds a day. I think its a bit too much.
You also shouldnt go bu weight, go by measurements, so say you might want X amount of inches off your waist etc and measure yourself once a week. I fyou do it daily you won't see much progress and maybe give up on it.
Also at tip: Interval training is the best for toning and losing weight fast. Good Luck!
Lose about 1.5-3 pounds per week. A combination of healthy eating and excersize will help. Remember to eat a big breakfest every morning. Many people who try to lose weight skip breakfest. This actually makes the body store fat making weight loss more difficult.

That is a really good teen weight loss forum.
There's lost of tips on what's healthy, and what's not, and how to lose weight and such.
Check it out.
Methinks any physician would tel you no, it can't safely be done. Shoot for maybe 10 pounds in a month, and even that is pushing it unless you work out a LOT...or you get really sick..
That's between 3-5 pounds a week--very, very fast. 1/2 to 1 is average, 2 is aggresive, and usually unsustainable.
Instead of saying I need to lose X amount of weight (which might be setting yourself up for disappointment and failure), say, I need to lose SOME weight by summer. Work out as much as you can, eat right and you'll see results.
Being a fellow lifeguard I would say it would be better to try and lose less then that a day because that's a bit extreme.
hm.. what is your height and current weight?
