My low self esteem comes from mental health issues (depression, anxiety, insomnia) and abusive and toxic relationships (familial as well as romantic). I'm actually no longer dating because I know I'm not good enough for anyone so why bother.

Honey if you're dealing with self esteem issues after like... 25 it's time to go see a therapist and get help. You're a cool and good person. You owe it to yourself if nothing else.

Personally I'm not and plenty people way older than I do suffer with it. It's sad.

Yes it is and it's sooooooo easy for people to post pictures and stories online looking for validation instead of addressing whatever issue is actually causing their problems.

Major depression is a chemical imbalance. Serotonin deals with depression while Norepinephrine deals with anxiety. There are SSRI drugs like Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft that em works on serotonin and there's SNRI drugs like Effexor and Cymbalta that deal with both. They help but aren't perfect. What they do for me is reduce the frequency or how often I fall into a depression and they shorten the duration or how long a depression lasts but they don't do away with it entirely for me

When you phase into your lowest points, is this when your self-esteem issue becomes a disabling problem? I imagine that it becomes hard to function in general?

The self esteem thing is constant but worse in a depression.
