Girls, does your doctor pinch your nipples during the breast exam?

Switched doctors and my new doctor pinched my nipples (one at a time) to "check for discharge." I've never had that done before and am wondering if it's common? The pinch itself was pretty hard, not painful but uncomfortable, i'd say a 7 out of 10. 10 being the worst. If you experience the pinch, how hard would you say it is?

Did the doctor actually tell you beforehand that he was going to do this?

The doctor was female, and yes she did tell me before. Once she was done palpating the first breast she informed me that she was going to "check my breast for discharge" Feeling like an idiot i asked "what?" And she explained in greater detail before continuing.

Well it must certainly have helped that the doctor at least was female, and that she did at least communicate with you.
Personally I can honestly say that I have never experienced this "practice" myself, but will now be just a little more wary of it.

They check for nipple discharge and nipple sensitivity.

Relax, that's normal and important too.

Pinching a girl's nipples the doctors can check if you have some breast diseases.
In fact, anomalous nipple discharge could be a sign of breast cancer or hormonal imbalance, especially if some liquid, maybe with a bit of blood, leaks from one single nipple. Quite the opposite, a bit of discharge from both of the nipples can be normal, especially after an intense oral or manual stimulation, maybe during sex or when you wear a too snug garment that rubs against your nips.
An intense orgasm too could causes a bit of nipples discharge, thanks to abundant release of oxytocin which could occurs during orgasm.

Moreover, with a little pinch, doctors can test your nipples sensitivity (to check if you feel some anomalous pain caused by some diseases) and their reactivity to mechanical stimuli.
In fact, a healthy nipple should lengthens and get erect after stimulation, to support the attachment of the unweaneds babies during lactation. An inverted or flat nipple could be a bit problematic in this sense and it could be necessary a correction, maybe with a pumping therapy or, in worst cases, a surgical operation.

So, don't worry and let the doctors check you nipples for your health :)
